  • I've had 6 Ridgebacks since 1979. Every one of them loved/loves this kind of horsing around. They are very good at knowing who is a threat and what to do. My first dog caught a prowler by the ass cheek and held him until I told him to let go. All Rhodies are serious protection, especially the females.

  • Luv it my dog does the samething w me

  • ridgebacks are called lion dogs because they, well, hunt lions. if he really wanted to he would not have said a Bark, it ould have been over. have you ever been tackled by a ridgeback? stepmom ahd one, and she could put me down at will. im 250 + and she was 110. amazing animals.

  • Tim Tebow protects his owners too. They take care of his penis so he gives intruders feelings!!!!!!

  • one day that dog may not take it as a joke or play time at take it as a real threat and do not be mad at him/her if it happens.... I am just saying...

  • 1 things dogs are the best friends and protectors

    I love dogs

  • We have 5 dogs very nice dogs (3 min pins a hound mix and a great dane) and there sweet but if you did this and they dont know you your ass is being attacked

  • @Jessica14152 absolutely correct. We have an australian cattle dog, the only ones who are allowed to 'play fight' with her are me and the other half, as she is trained to 'go for it'.....after all, if a burglar or an attacker walks in and starts booting at her, last thing I want her to do is 'bark lots', I want her to tear them to shreds!

  • haaaaa u're lucki she din bite ur head off

  • My dachshund use to be this way. Your ridgeback looks just like her but bigger. Exactly like her.

  • Ridgeback. One dog you do not want to mess with! That dog will know when its time to fight and when it's time to play!

  • Try that with my wife or kid and my dog around-you'll be missing your arm and prob your face. That's not protection bud.

  • That guy looks like FPSrussia.

  • I was waiting for everything to go all wrong and the dog just starts ripping at the guys arm all the while the child is just screaming XDDD

  • looks like the dog new you wer playimg hope you never get in a real fight might hrt lol

  • sexy....

  • wonderful dog...and thats with someone he likes, imagine if a stranger did that.

  • Nice! My lab/chow mix does the same. She has to get in on the fun when I tease my wife. Makes me feel good knowing that someone who didn't know my dog would have to hesitate while trying to figure out if my dog is going to be a problem for them if I'm not there. She's a total softie and never would, but that hesitation is everything in a foul situation and would give my wife the chance to get away.

  • @swillia6rider I have a lab/chow mix and he does this too. When me and my mother play around pushing each other.. he comes between us and just jumps up in the way. it's amazing.

  • omg my pitbull does the same thing

lol i remember when i was four my uncle and dad were yelling at each other and he bit my uncle back .I LOVE PEACHES

if u wanna no why i said i love peaches is thats her name :)

  • @diensthunds

    Your wrong.

  • That wasn't defense it was play, the dogs play bows indicate that it was in a jolly game playing mood and not being defensive or protective.

  • my bull arab does the same thing! Althought he doesn't just bark, he uses his 40kg body by pushing in between me and the other person.

  • This brought a tear to my eye! My ridgeback would always get in the middle to break up any fights in my house even play fights. He just wouldn't have it. Miss him loads.

  • Awesome dog you have there! Rhodesian ridgebacks are a very powerful and brave dog too! Reminds me of my female German shepherd... she is generally a sweet dog, but is extremely protective of me. If i am not home, she wont let anyone in, and 1 day my brother was joking around and grabbed me, and she lunged to bite him! Luckily i pushed him out of the way in time as her bite is very powerful. I now tell people do not fool around like that.

  • fake.

  • @YajTxuj

    Like your life.

  • Well of course all she's gonna do is bark she knows we are just playing.

  • @Txmarine210 See even i knew that, its good though to teach her to protect like tht because you never know when sum nut job will break in.At least you know you will be protected and she clearly knew you werent serious

  • He is somewhat protective, but barking only wont protect.

  • @hundiraisk cuz they know hes playing -___-

  • My American Bulldog mix is the biggest baby until I start roughhousing with my 4 yr old son or my nephews then it's on! And if another dog approach's in a menecing way she brings a whole need side out, she is not dog aggresive in the least bit, but she can tell when something is differant. BTW that is a beutiful dog you have!!

  • My dog tries to stop fights when ever there is one going on

  • oh man if my girlfriend do this to me he would protect what your dog is doing its only barking but the main thing in protection is if the dog know how to byte and protect you and give a live for you :-)

  • If that happened with my RR..... You'd be dead!

  • LOL my RR does that too!

  • I must agree...Ridgies are the best.

  • great dog - they are SUPER protective breed arent they

i have 2 yr old who is the biggest whoos but if someone comes to the front door he hasnt smelt before - he sounds like a grizzly bear until i tell him to stop.

exactly what you want in a dog.
