so bernanke wants the US to stop importing goods, crude oil and so forth from abroad? and thus stopping the industries and productivity.... it´s incredible how ignorant people are.....
Nothing I buy says made in America unless it is food. Even then not all food is made in America like bananas. A lot of people buy bananas. And what about gasoline??????? Everyone uses gasoline and retailers get their products shipped via vehicles that use gasoline.
Did Ron Paul ask him what was the best way to make less money sound ok? (I know he didn't) That's what Bernanke seemed to answer. Trying to make it sound good doesn't make it good.
It doesn't matter where things are made. Milk has gone up in part because the Chinese are now eating milk products. All commodities, even most perishables, compete in the international markets. There's nothing you can make without using commodities. Bernanke was talking absolute bunk. See the video response above.
"Did you know that gas is cheaper today than it was 35 yrs ago?" 35 yrs ago anyone could go into a bank in the US with a Dollar Bill and swap it for a Silver Dollar....
They could buy FOUR Gallons of gas with either the dollar bill or the silver dollar.
Gas was 25 cents a gal.
Today the same silver dollar will buy FIVE gals of gas
The silver dollar is now worth around FIFTEEN bucks.
gas is now 3 dollars per gal..
The DOLLAR that is worth LESS, not the gas that is worth MORE.
Yeah, old slippery Dick, my dollar used to buy me hamburgers, cokes, fries and ice cream for two. So, yeah, what Nixon and Bernanke said was true, my dollar was worth just as much "tomorrow," that is, literally the next day, but ... now I'll be lucky to buy the same lunch for two for $6. So, Dick stole, over time, 5/6 of the money I saved as a kid.
Bob goes to work at WTF-Mart. Fed says to China, "Bob and his taxes are AOK collateral! Loan US money." China says, "OK-USA!" Bob's taxes pay the interest, China spends it making stuff for Bob to buy and sell at WTF-Mart. But wait! Where's the money the Feds borrowed? There! See all the billionaires over there frolicking in the hedge? They're building a beautiful new house made of oil. Smart little pigs.
We also compete with foreigners for commodities produced in this country. Do you think an American cheese producer will refuse to sell to a Chinese importer because he gets more money from them? I don't think so.

I'm an American, working for an American company, living abroad. Since 5 months ago, I've essentially lost 13% of my wealth.

In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value.

Oh, only imported goods? Well, that's not a problem, since Americans don't buy too many imported goods. Right?
