Well for a start, the fact that he was anti Communist, and pro the Vietnam war was a good thing. Anything that stopped the pernicious vicious ideology of Communism was a benefit. The only problem with the Vietnam war, or all wars that America has fought since ww2, is that they haven't mobilised the country and killed all of their enemies.

As for his "alleged" racism, he's entitled to an opinion, I should care less.

No, not really. He is considerate, polite, and he doesn't rudely interrupt the interviewee every two words like most American interviewers do nearly all the time.
