Great video. Love the way the Yorkie knows he can torment the big dog without fear. The German Shep half-heartedly shows him his big teeth, but it doesn't work. My German Shep loves tiny dogs.

My German Shepherd gets along well with my Yorkie too. She is also VERY protective of her. People can't believe they live together and get along so well. Proper socializing goes a long way. Also exercise they are high energy dogs.

I woule expect the Yorkie would attack the German Shep, and the Shep would let him. They're usually very good with little dogs.

Awesome video! GSDs are the best! Ours has also been a bit toy/dog aggressive, but now she seems to be getting more enjoyment out of playing with other canines. I think part of it is that GSDs are so aloof with others outside of their pack. Also, sometimes I think our GSD doesn't think she's a dog at all lol.

My cat is more aggressive than your Yorkie. He will eat with my GSD from the raised bowl.

@Maniken360 - yea, they actually do eat from the same bowl. I have a great picture of them standing on opposite sides of the bowl eating. Our cat gets in there too sometimes and they all eat together.

I've had a simular instance with a cat and my GSD. He hates cats period, but some how a kitten had found its way on the property, he was loose in my yard and I saw him dash to the corner of the fence, and when Came back from a distance, it looked like he can caught a Rat in his mouth and was running back to show me, it was a kitten, he would roll on his back, bark, pick it up to lick it. He absoultly LOVED the kitten. Sadly the kitten passed away a few weeks later due to illness. GSD are great.

Gorgeous! I have a 15lb Yorkie currently and would LOVE to have a GSD again someday (I grew up with one). I am glad to see they can get along wonderfully, of course with socializing and training. :)

@brittanyjadexo - the GSD has actually been somewhat dog aggressive in the past. But we brought little Travis out at a mere 3 pounds and let him lick him while we held him and Cody just went nuts for him. Has never ever hurt him. A couple times, he's stepped on him by accident and he always goes and licks him and then hides because he's so concerned that he's in trouble. Their relationship is amazing.

I love the video. Your German Shepherd is beautiful!! I have 2 yorkies and a German Shepherd but he is a pup. Our other shepherd pasted away back a year ago and we have missed having a shepherd around so we got him. They are amazing dogs and so are Yorkies! Great video and very good dogs!

Go shepherd! He totally stood his ground. I LOVE GSD's. They're the best dogs. So protective as well as loving towards their owners. I'd take a GSD over a yorkie any day.

This is a great video. Both dogs are trained VERY well & respect each other. The Yorkie is clearly showing submission in hopes of getting a taste of that bone. But when it gets too close, the GSD warns, and the Yorkie does pretty good with backing off.

Smart dogs & good job. You've raised them well.
