Who the hell are these people? Are they terrorists overseas or just an individual being a thief? Whatever they are, I hate them with all my heart. Not that this has ever happened to me but it's just pathetic..

You should have told your viewers not to click on a link within a spam email. Many of them will send you to a website that will install malware on your system. You were using a Mac so the risk wasn't as great but most people still use PCs.
A year has passed since you've written. When you email spoof@paypal, you receive a "Thank You" reply. PayPal does not tell you what they've done to eliminate the hazard. These fakers move fast. PLEASE read my post of July, 2010. NEVER click a link until you've hovered it to verify the URL is VALID & IDENTICAL. ALWAYS view full email Headers. TURN OFF automatic picture display. Scripts can be attached to images in email. Once you SEE the image, the script has been downloaded & run. Avoid IE.
You shouldn't even click on any link inside that email. It could also know your IP and more information about you. Then they can hack into your interenet latter. Just be save forward that email to paypal spoof.
By now (2010), I hope most computer users are knowledgeable enough to never click an embedded link in email, always display Header information for all email msgs & turn off automatic picture display in email. Sadly, there are elderly +/or novice +/or inebriated users who access their email while in a blackout. I've dealt with all three & combos recently. It's not ONLY the IP issue, but malicious scripts/downloads received when a bogus Home page displays. ALWAYS hover the link before you click!
