skyrim is an open world RPG. It's strong point are the really good quests and story line.

Dark souls is all about gameplay.

If you're looking for a craft-yer-own-world game, skyrim's for you.

If you're looking for challange, go for Dark souls.

To me both are great games.

to be honest, I have played and beaten both Dark Souls and Skyrim. Skyrim is much more involving in the story line and is more RPG like. Dark Souls is more challenging and involving game, and great to play with games. But when it comes down to it, Skyrim is a pussy version of Dark Souls. Dark Souls for life!

I used to play Dark Souls. But then I fell down a sewer and got cursed by some bullshit giant frog. 6000 souls later, I went back to the crypts to face a giant rat, fell down another hole, got cursed. Never rage quit so hard in my life. True story.

Each time I died in this game it was like " WTF FAKE FAKE , NOT POSSIBLE" now i just... died ? 100k souls , ok np. How things changed? lost a level 25 level char in ashe lake... spent 2 hours trying to get to blighttown dying every 10 mins or less... Felts abandoned in that god forsaken lake with a hydra trowing me shit ... with a ushigatana +5 and no way to kill her... 2 hours without sgins or even swing a soul passing by me, the worst experience in game ever. death is no longer a problem...

@KywPT No death in this game is ever "fake", "cheap" or "lame". You died because you did the wrong thing, you didn't have your shield up, or you didn't doge or parry. There are no cheap moves, your character always has a counter, each boss always has a weakness. The game is punishingly difficult until you know what you're doing.

I couldn't beat something as stupidly simple as the Gaping Dragon because I kept wondering why the game wasn't playing my way, until I learned that's not how things needed to be. Once I actually, stepped back and realized that the game doesn't bend over for me like every other game out there and that I had to take pause, I learned it was one of the easiest fights in the damn game.

@strikerk Yep, I just went up against the Centipede Demon, died about 30 times (melee player) until i realised that if i went over to the RHS there's a big open area of land where i can usually avoid the lava, rather than staying at the fog door. Then I realised unlike many other bosses, the best place to be is directly underneath him. Changes a extremely difficult fight, into a not to bad one based on skill using blocking, knowing when to attack and well timed dodges.

@dimester50 Yes but its unlike others, you wont get classical quests where you have to follow a line, you can go (almost) everywhere and try to find your way, if you're skilled enough you can even beat areas you shouldnt be in, the game lets you do that.

Itfocusses on making you feel alone in this forsaken place (in a good way) everything is connected with each other, and there's only a small refuge with people to talk to. And every time to beat a boss or an epic fight it feels like it mattered.

The enemies leading up to a boss are a good indication of whether or not you're in the right place. If you can fight your way to the boss and die, then you should be strong enough to fight your way back and figure out how to win. I beat the Stray Demon with a +7 Longsword doing 39 damage per swing. Took me 4 tries but in the end he died. 20 levels my ass

Each boss can be taken down with strategy, not just your level. I took down the stray demon at level 20 and was only causing 48 per hit. It took me a long time, but it was rewarding.

Skyrim and Dark Souls: TWO TOTALLY FUCKING DIFFERENT GAMES.

They're in the same genre, but the style couldn't be more different. Assassin's Creed and Uncharted are both "action/adventure" games set from a 3rd person perspective - which one is better?!?! Neither - invalid comparison, they're different and each has its strengths.
