The novelist himself (Halit Ziya Usakligil) lost a few people in his family because of commit suicide, including his young son. Some literature historian believes he wrote Bihter's commit suicide because of his son. And sure in real life too not all stories going or finishing with happy end too unfortunately. And I guess Turks love melodramas.
