I don't understand why Datsyuk is being brought up, but what I really don't understand is how anyone can say he sucks. He is one one of the best two way forwards in the league (He has multiple Selke trophies in a row) and he is a great sport (He has multiple Lady Byng trophies in a row). You don't have to like the guy but you have to at least give him credit for what he does on the ice. I'd love to see all of you saying that he sucks go one on one against him. Datsyuk is compared to them differently as well, he outplays both of them in awareness and defensive. He could easily score as many goals even with the ice time difference but he is a playmaker.
@mitchellisg0d Yeah, he does have less ice time than the two. And as a caps fan, I can't argue with statistics for datsyuk. He's playin great. The only player on our team playing well now is Niklas Backstrom. Ovechkin has disappeared the last year and a half and I don't know why. The Caps went from outscoring the NHL by 40 goals in the 2009-2010 season with Ovi, green, and backstrom all producing, to becoming a 13-11-1 disaster after a 7-0 start. They gotta pick it up.

There's no way that you can compare Datsyuk's point totals to Cry Baby's or to Ovi's; there's no comparison. But, when you watch him play, performing his magic night in and night out, it is plain to see that he is the most well-rounded player in the world.

They're both GREAT players. Both the best, and both the best at their position. Crosby v. Ovechkin. Who cares?! With either, you get the best in the league. And Datsyuk... really? I agree with your whole ovi/crosby argument, but to say Datsyuk isn't on the same level as them is ignorant. You compare the differences between ovechkin and crosby. Datsyuk is compared to them differently as well, he outplays both of them in awareness and defensive. He could easily score as many goals even with the ice time difference but he is a playmaker.

@mitchellisg0d Yeah, he does have less ice time than the two. And as a caps fan, I can't argue with statistics for datsyuk. He's playin great. The only player on our team playing well now is Niklas Backstrom. Ovechkin has disappeared the last year and a half and I don't know why. The Caps went from outscoring the NHL by 40 goals in the 2009-2010 season with Ovi, green, and backstrom all producing, to becoming a 13-11-1 disaster after a 7-0 start. They gotta pick it up.

@BobbySiska I agree completely, it seems all the big names have been in a slump Datsyuk has picked it up as of lately but at the begining of the season he was pretty invisible on the team, the one good things with the wings is that they have four solid lines that can all produce goals. There is defiantly no room for error in either conference the race for the playoff spots in the west at least is like 6 points from 1st to like 11th last time i checked. Both our teams need to step up

For the last years they have been milking easy wins against very weak teams because the Central division has been one of the weakest divisions in the NHL for over a decade. Now that the Hawks and even Predators have a team that can compete against the Wings, you're beginning to discover that they aren't that good. You can't compare Datsyuk with Crosby and Ovechkin because of this. The West Conf. has too many unbalanced teams.
