Why is it broad daylight in some scenes outside and in others pitch black?
Odd
Also the camera relection on the window at the end
I loved this episode. I started watching the episode on new years eve (31/12/11) up until when the baby was born on and watched the rest on the brand new new years day. :)
Guys, I just saw the midwife guy in a restaurant in Twickenham - Pizza Express, the guy who delivers the baby and he looks basically identical except has grey hair and wears a flat cap. :) My mum pointed him out, went out for my dads birthday meal tonight. Was sat a few tables from him, and he has very distinctive facial features, my mum knew it was him when he was looking around the room. I've also seen an old primary school teacher in that room and my mum saw 2 teachers at her place lol.
Everything from 4:17 onwards is pure TV magic. Kudos to both the late John Sullivan and David Jason for pulling it off, it actually left me a little misty eyed.
I didn't cry at the end of this video, i was just very happy for them :). What a lovely ending to an absolutly classic show. RIP John Sullivan, you were on of the best writers and it's a real shame you are gone however you will never be forgotten because in 100 years time people will look back at this show and say 'Damn this show is a classic'. He knew how to make us all cry one minute and laugh the next.
RIP Buster Merryfeild aswell. he was one amazing actor. 'During the war' haha :).
@ArchivalValentine On the recordings I had of this episode and all others, it was O Fortuna for the Damien scenes. It's different on these dvd versions though.
technically this was the last 'normal' episode all the episodes after this are specials and shorts of different kinds. amazing it ran for so long simply off one episode per year, but then again thats testment to the brilliant writing John Sullivan produced
No I mean from the original broadcast, once the show was put on video, DVD etc. alot of scenes were cut because they had certain music playing in the background or the score was re-edited with music they could use.
Like if you watch the episode "Yuppy Love" when Rodney approaches Cassandra in the nightclub the both say hello to each other but the part of him asking her to dance is gone because there was music in the background they couldn't use again. They just cut to them walking to the dance-floor together, which makes little sense as the whole point was a bet that Rodney wouldn't ask her! GAAAAH!
In summary it's slightly annoying a great show is even a tiny bit spoiled by the music problem.
@MarkJoseph4 yeh i agree with you, O fortuna was much better, also because of the sound edit alot of the audience laughter is lost which kinda deflates the gag

It's annoying because the sound edit completely drowns out the laughter as well so it looks like the Damien gag never works!

that was a bit unfair of Raquel to say "and last" it says that she doesn't think Rodney will ever have any kids.

Different music for the ominous Damien scenes, must be that ol' royalties thing. Shame, O Fortuna was better.
MarkJoseph4 2 years ago 2
It's funnier if they mix it up I think otherwise the joke becomes stale.

Ah I get what you mean. I didn't think O Fortuna would have been copyrighted though.
