  • It speaks of Carol's confidence as an entertainer. She was very giving. It's not every major start that would let a audience member steal the stage. Carol step aside for a bit and then joined in. One of Carol's talents was spotting a good thing and running with it. There's no ego up on that stage Carol was about putting the best show on.

  • One of the top 5 BEST shows of all time !!

  • "You?"

    "You screwed it up ..."

    "I'M SORRY!"

    XD

  • wow burt reynolds is one good lookin man

  • has to be one of the earliest openly gay performances in television. Thanks Terry!!!!

  • Who's Maude?

  • @12burtonboy "Maude" was a tv show in the early 70's, and Maude was played by the late Bea Arthur who passed away in 2009. That lady in the audience (Terri McCann) of the Carol Burnett Show dressed very similar to the way that Maude would dress, and the resemblance was striking, and that's why everyone in the audience got such a kick out of her response. I saw that Carol Burnett Show episode with Terri back in the 70's when it first aired. It's just as funny today. I hope this helped. Thanks

  • @Beautifulmusiclistnr They showed a clip of this on "Carol & Company," a weekly anthology series that Carol Burnett had on NBC for a couple of seasons in the early 1990s, and they had one of those women as a guest--not sure which lady it was, though!

  • @snoopy64116 Thank you for sharing that. I wish I'd have seen those clips. It's possible that I did see them in the 90's, but I do remember seeing the clip with the lady who looked like Maude when it originally aired in the 70's. It's just so classic! Thank you again!

  • my lord...there is NOTHING on TV like this nowadays - current TV, I mean. This is real, honest-to goodness comedy, not the brainless trash that pervades TV nowadays.

  • @theoceanave I agree with you completely! Today's tv is brainless trash! I just watched this clip again, and I've seen it so many times, and I still laugh, and it doesn't matter how many times I've seen it. I wish we had great stuff like this on tv still. This show is just priceless!

  • @Beautifulmusiclistnr me too, I always laugh so hard when she turns to the most distinguished Ms. Burnett and says "ya screwed it up!!" That woman (Terri McCann!) seemed like she was as

funny as Bea Arthur. She probably could've had an acting career, but undoubtedly was just an ordinary person who never even thought of it. She kind of strikes me as an older version of Roseanne. Anyhow, Carol's show was the last of so-called classic TV comedy. And we just have to rejoice that it happened.

  • @theoceanave I agree with you that Carol's show was the last of the truly great classic TV comedies. We would watch it on Saturday nights as a family when I was growing up, and if, for whatever reason, it wasn't on, I was so bummed out about it. Carol and the entire cast was just brilliant! I agree also that we need to be thankful for such wonderful comedy and for such a wonderful comedienne as Carol.

  • @theoceanave I just watched this clip again, and the part with Terri McCann is certainly the best part, and when she said "ya screwed it up", I started cracking up as if I were watching it for the first time! Just terrific!

  • @Beautifulmusiclistnr yup, I'm the same way when I watch a lot of old clips from Carol's show, I just break up laughing as if i'd never seen it before.

  • ABOUT “MAUDE”, Terri McCann (Google “Still playing

after all these years - Pittsburgh Tribune” )

"...Capozza's sister also had a brush with the "big time,"

he recalled. "She performed with Carol Burnett during

one of Carol's television shows," Capozza said. "She

was Terri McCann then and was in the audience

when Carol invited her to come on stage to sing with her.

They did 'You Made Me Love You' and it went over very

    well.." --Eddie Capozsza, Terri's brother

  • @bendeanphd Thank you so much for your post!!! I remember seeing this as a kid, and I've commented on this post many times, and I think that your sister, Terri, was just fantastic up on stage with Carol. I get so tickled when I watch this clip when Terri tells Carol "You screwed it up"! I just love that! I watch this clip at least once a month! There are some great comments for this clip, and a lot of them are for your sister. God Bless!

  • Sad really. T.V. like this isn't there any more.

  • this is so awesome thank you

  • When they started singing that is really just one of the all time great moments in TV.

  • Terry had a really good voice, Carol screwed it up, she should've let her sing solo.

  • I think carol needed the lyrics lol.. LOVE HER

  • hahaha she was so ready to sing

    best part 7:50

  • This is a very fun way to celebrate international women's day. Happy International Women's Day.

  • I remember when this particular show aired. It was great to see it again after so many years! Thanks for posting!!

  • she sounds like jamie-lee curtis

  • You screwed it up...Priceless!!!

  • I've seen this clip many times, and I laugh every time. Just good stuff!

  • Carol reminds me of a school teacher for some reason lol

  • If YouTube didn't exist they should invent it just to show videos like this!!!!!!!!

  • The "Maude" woman is Bea Arthur. She passed away not too long ago. She was a great talent on Broadway and TV.

  • @Nina37Seattle Sorry to disappoint you but, that was not Bea Arthur.

  • The "You Made Me Love You" clip is one of my all-time favorites. Too funny. Thanks for posting this. :)

  • Can you ever tell from the wide shots that it's The Bob Barker Theatre (the same room The Price is Right was done in) CBS Stage #33 !!

  • i absolutely love "Maudes" outfit! XD

  • Carol Burnett, a generous genius!

  • Ahhahahah!! This made my day!! I love Carol soo much! She's amazing!! There will never be another comedian like her! She was soo lucky in her life.

  • I can tell by the way this woman Terry presented herself on stage, she must have had a singing background some time in her past. She reminds me of a USO style singer. Very nice showmanship, and a strong voice!

  • That was my first time seeing this. I was born in '84. So great! Thanks for sharing. I find it odd that companies like Viacom are trying to take down clips like these, when what they should be doing is putting them on TV! "Is that Maude?" LOL! She does resemble Bea Arthur though!

  • God how I miss 70's television! TVLand, please come to your senses and do what you were launched to do!!

  • that. was. AWESOME! jeez, what a treat for that lady terry, huh? can you imagine?

  • the Maude woman reminds me of sophie tucker

  • I don't know who Burt Reynolds is but he's hot. Thanks for posting this. Never seen these questions before.

  • A time when we had REAL T.V. !!!

  • I am 29 and reading Carol's new memoir. Thank you for posting all these videos so I can laugh along and see all the comedy magic she has made over the years! What a great lady!!

  • "you screwed it up"lol the lady had authority, dawg!

  • that maude lookalike has been on my mind ever since...she was awesum...thks for the memory maude lookalike lady...

  • I remember seeing this on one of the reruns of "Carol and Company", at least I think it was a rerun as I am not old enough to remember the original, I hope. It is such a great clip. How it all just happened out of the blue and how she emulated Bea Arthur (rip) and sang so well. It would not have been so funny had she sung badly and just looked like her but given the voice and the quip and her chutzpah, it might have been thought of as a total set up, which I do not believe. Thanks for posting!

  • I was just reminiscing about Carol Burnett and "Maude". No big surprise to find the clip on YouTube. Kudos to you for posting it and kudos to YouTube for keeping us entertained!!

  • oh my goodness this is wonderful thank you it made my day.

  • i loooove cb. total class and talent.

  • I just want to thank you for sharing this video. I loved Carol Burnett growing up and still do. My 6 year old learned this song off of your youtube video and went onto win several trophies and prize money at a talent competition. It was the perfect song for her voice and personality. Thank you!

  • Anybody know of Terry? Classic Joy Clip...Blessings to All!

  • @tubetoad When Terry gets on the stage, it sounds like she's saying Terry McNam or Terry McNabb, but I'm not sure. All I know is that I remember seeing it as a little boy, and I loved it then and everytime I watch it here, I still get so tickled at it. It was terrific. It's my understanding that Carol brought her back for something that took place in the early 90's, but I didn't see that. Great post, and Terry could certainly hold her own!

  • @Beautifulmusiclistnr Actually, the woman she brought back was the one who pointed out "Maude." (I think!)

  • @snoopy64116 I'm glad you posted your comment because it gave me a chance to see this wonderful clip again which I try to watch every so often. It's my understanding from one of the posts for this clip that it was Terri that came back as a guest in the audience again as opposed to the lady who thought it was Maude. :)

  • @Beautifulmusiclistnr It would be interesting to see an episode with both of them!

  • @snoopy64116 I agree! That would be nice to see. I'm watching this great clip again as I write, and it's always outstanding! Thanks!

  • I remember this when it was new! Terry wanted the stage, her once-in-a-lifetime moment... and Carol wasn't giving it up!The Burt clip brought back memories of how dashing and healthy he was, and enormously popular. He had a roaring public romance with, of all people, Dinah Shore, who would be at least 90 now if alive. Not everyone bought it, but like now, it made good watercooler chat. I can't think of 1 performer now who could handle a variety show, not that they'll ever come back.

  • I have been looking for this for I cannot tell you how long....she was amazing...I wish they had found her....

  • Great to see Maude and Carol. Too old

troopers. Too bad Judy Garland couldn't

    make it.

    Tx 4 posting

  • Maude and Carol??!! Now i can 't help but think they needed an Adrienne Barbeau lookalike!

  • Ever wonder if these people who ask the question are now dead?

  • thats wild, i just thot the very thing 2day after watching this video..it popped in my head to wonder if the lady who lkd like bea arthur was dead, or the woman who pointed her out...weird

  • The woman was amazing. She could have done her own show , she nearly blew Carol off the stage and that isn't easy!

In the key of G - she knew her stuff!!

  • Classic

  • This is WONDERFUL! Thank you for posting this!

  • what a great personality that Bea Arthur look-a-like was!

  • "is that lady maude"?? one of that shows funniest moments ever!

  • Do you have a clip of this "Terry" later?

  • this was not her first time.. cool as ice she was up there.. best Q and A i have seen yet. she should have gone pro...

  • I loved the maude look alike confidence

she was like SO sure of herself!!!

    carol is fantastic!!!

  • this same clip was at Mrs.Burnetts concert wow i like that terry

  • best oldie show ever! :)

  • Burt Rynolds lol!

  • A time when we had REAL entertainers!!

  • The "Maude" woman Terry, the one who sang "You made me love you" at the end of this clip. Years later, after Carol's show went off the air, Carol did one of her TV specials in which she brought Terry back. Terry didnt sing in that special. She sat in the audience, close to the stage, Carol introduced her, and sat on her lap as they replayed this old clip of Terry getting to sing

  • Terry was f**ckin AWESOME!

  • I remember seeing this clip on an episode of "Carol and Company," the show she did on NBC back in the early 1990's, but from what I remember, the guest she had on there was the woman who asked if that was Maude (who was actually Terry), not Terry herself. Maybe I misunderstood something. I was 13 at the time.

  • @bmovies60 really?! I never knew that, which special was it?

Actually Carol wrote about it in her new book - but she didn't use Terry's name.

  • @bmovies60 Do you know by any chance what special this was? I am interested in seeing Terry again. From what you mention, this sounds interesting.

  • @Ulalafanboy I believe, I'm not sure, that it was in her 2004 special: "Carol Burnett: Let's Bump Up The Lights". Its out on DVD, so I can rent it fron Netflix and see if its there.

  • @bmovies60 Awwwwwwwwwwww!!! :D

  • @bmovies60 Aw

  • Fantastic I remember that from when I was a kid. Classic TV

  • that lady did look alot like maude. i only watched a little bit of maude though. i only really liked bea arthur in the golden girls though

  • that was classic carol! i fell out over that maude looking lady. growing up as a kid in i didn't have much but carol burnett & her crazy antics always kept me out of trouble & in stitches! i loved that maude so this look-a-like was a delicious surprise & tribute to the great bea arthur! thx fo posting.

  • Oh my gosh, thank you for posting my favorite clip of all the Q&A's done on the show.

That audience member certainly did have all the moxy of Maude/Bea Arthur. And NOT EVERYONE could get away with telling Carol "You screwed up!"

    Thanks again!
