It's weird to me that Mindcrime and Empire are the only two albums most rock fans seem to know. This band is deeper than just the metal moniker. Geoff Tate can sing his butt off.
Tates' vocals and DeGarmos' understanding of symphonic orchestral music stand alone. Operation Mindcrime was the first operatic metal. Tate sings with such passion and emotion. Nothing Pink Floyd, Rush or Dream Theater did can compare to Rage For Order or Operation Mindcrime!

Only Queensryche could put flutes to guitars to base to drums to violins to guitars to flute so sweetly. Checkmate! McTiernan provided an ultimate visual for this song. Angry Again by Megadeth was also awesome on the Last Action Hero soundtrack, a great movie.
It took me a long time to enjoy this song, but looking back now, it seems like it was just ahead of it's time. If they had released it today, they might a lot more radio popular than they are. Which is a real downer, cuz' they rock.
This song was on the soundtrack to the movie "Last Action Hero", starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I used to have the soundtrack. It had some great bands on it. Queensryche, Megadeth, Anthrax, AC/DC, Alice in Chains (2 songs by them)...but it also had Aerosmith and Def Leppard...if you're into that stuff.
Yeah but most of the songs were contractual obligations...The AIC song was OK ditto the Queensryche song...but the rest was crap. Just like the movie.

That's what people don't realise and understand - real music. My heart aches for all the posers that have never heard this song.

Every time I think I've won
I hear your voice inside, questioning
Where have you gone Can't you remember feeling so alone
You always had the anwer that I could not see... So sick!

Eh, I agree. They're not into the experimentation they used to be. They're not still bad, but I think Promised Land was the last of their good albums

最高に美しく、そしてパワフルで、緊張感のある展開のある曲で彼らの最高曲の一つだと思う。やはりこういうクオリティの高い曲は今のメンバーでは難しいのか?

@Jamcad01 I said "if you're into that stuff". I don't care if other people like it, as long as I don't have to.
Actually, I said it that way specifically so someone wouldn't come along and cry that I'm 'dissing' them.
Guess it didn't work. (hang my head in shame...kick a nearby pebble)

3:05 until the end is the best part. Be honest, you can't argue with that.
Atoutlem0nde 2 years ago
i completely disagree. i think the song is amazing except for 3:05-4:00. if only we could tie the ending to right after 3:04
BeautifulMan2009 2 years ago
I kind of a agree. That section starting at 3:05 is out of the song's nature and, in my opinion, doesn't belong.
