I have a queston, ok well when I recieve a message it comes up on my Handcent SMS with a little 1 by it. But that same thing happens with the real text messaging icon. How do I change it so I only get it notified on the Handcent SMS when I recieve a message?

@Yolitacherroni14. You have to make sure you disable your previous sms/mms app. Go to the settings and disable all notifications.

@rudy3019 go to the default messaging app. then click the menu button, settings, uncheck received notification. this should work

Question! I just got this app, and totally love it... However, lets see if I can explain making some what of sence for someone to understand.......

I turned off the notification for the original messaging setup, however, still when I receive a text message it shows up that I have a new message on the main screen (before I unlock it) and i still have to go view it in the old messaging box for it to go away. Is there a way to totally cancel out the old messaging ways?

@Shanadelt all you have to do is go into your stock messaging app, go into the settings and turn off notifications, but if you have apps like FindmyPhone that scans incoming text messages for keywords you have to leave the stock notifications on

I have use Handcent SMS, its amazing, but no work trackball light flash even use for HTC Magic I have, Standard Messaging disable notification still nothing while Handcent SMS enable Light Trackball under notification no work Light Trackball but not stop light trackball is on after open Handcent SMS, its separate only, Standard Messaging better disable notification for Light Trackball. Still nothing Light Trackball for Handcent SMS even enable what's wrong?

This app blows. It's WAY slower than the regular texting app that comes with the phone. Additionally, you have to be careful of any apps like this that involve typing. There are some apps (like new keyboard apps) that track all of your writing.

I'm not accusing handcent of this, specifically...just be warned of 3rd part apps like this that have the capability of tracking what you write. I don't trust it.

@ihazprocombo haha, you sound like you're having a bad day! I know what ya mean tho about laggy Hero's, i guess its down to the Ram n processor. I tend to use a good task manager to keep unwanted programs from running in background. this works fine for me. I've just tested both handcent and Chomp and both worked fine with no lagging cos i ended 6 other apps first.

If you like Android phones why not go for the desire which can multitask very well. Its def my next phone. Take care dude!
