  • You are just hell bent on showing me that I'm not, after all, very good at the piano. ;)

    Well played sir.

  • I wish I could play piano :( That would be awesome..

  • Since when does lydian mean #5?

  • Bill Evans has nothing on you my piano brother! Bravo!

  • You sir....uh... jazz.

  • Love your mellow sound. All on the same page musically. Love it when it all comes together like this.

  • excellent taste..Bill Evans and Ahmad Jamal would be proud that you keep their touch alive.

  • Just beautiful Doug, you are a master!

  • I cry every time I listen to this lol.

  • Are you sure, you have a sense of humor? Didn't you see the smiley ;-) behind my remark? I must admit though that I only listened to your introduction, which is rhythmically too irregular to sing. Now, after I listened to the whole (beautiful!) thing, I will not be able to stop myself ... Just wait and see (hear)! ;-)

  • I was in a lazy mood when first listening to this sweet tune and somewhat dozin off, then you woke me up and I began to stomp and someone took me right back to napping. Very well done. You must have a full time technician running all them buttons. Australia swings !

  • This is tremendous !!........first time I´ve seen this way of presentation. ..........very illuminating.......a great teaching method. Can´t praise it enough. Thanks..

  • this is as usual a beautiful lesson in the art of jazz piano makes me wish i wasnt a sax player doug you are such a lyricle soulful player

  • do you have any cds to buy?

  • I don't have any CDs - but on the DVD (see details above on the right - click on 'more info..') there are a number of MP3 tracks of my playing solo or with Michelle Benjamin (vocals) that are not available elsewhere! - plus over 8 hours of video lessons like the one above, over 80 transcriptions, assorted backing tracks, leadsheets etc, and over 250 midi files (many annotated).

    Doug

  • this is great! i wonder if you have a site where your notation is downloadable so i don't hurt my eyes? haha thanks

  • There are some transcriptions on my website to download, though most of them are only on my DVD - see details under 'more info.' above right.

    Doug

  • very nice !!

  • Beautiful playing!

    Beautiful sound!

    And beautiful video!

    Many thanks!!!

  • WONDERFUL!!!!

  • Superb, as usual. Your reharmonization is always brilliant. I am learning more from dissecting your videos than from reading Levine. Is 'Bewitched' (key of C -please) in the works?

  • Awesome cross rythm on 3:57 !

  • Thanks, this is awesome!

you are very good this reminds me much of bill evans

  • Outstanding. Each solo chorus different from the rest and constructed beautifully, played with rich harmonies, varied dynamics and superb articulation.

  • Amazing! Every note depicted on staff and keyboard, and explained in plain language! That is just what I was looking for! It helps me understand a bunch of things I couldn' t decipher before with just listening to jazz piano records! If only this was done with jazz guitar also(I play jazz guitar on an intermediate level). Thanks!
