The term Black Panther is often used in connection with large black cats;there is no one distinct species of wild cat called a Black Panther. It is a common name which can be applied to any large black coated cat. When you see a picture of a Black Panther it is most likely that you are looking at either a Leopard or possibly a Jaguar with Melanistic coloration. The typical markings are still there, but are hidden by the excess black pigment melanin.

No all cat purr, maybe not as loud as a little cat but they do purr. Some you cant really hear but you can feel it in there body. Very neat. I saw it on a wild life documentary awhile back. They are just to much of an awesome animal.
