....Queen Kitty ("Life is so very beautiful") is really missed in the dream sequences...her time was really exciting and had some of the most gruesome killings, Cromwell, Derehem, and their heads in the Tower for her to see....and she died so elegantly....
I was watching the episode with my sister for the first time and we were both: WHAT?! WAS THAT Anne Bolyn?!?! And than Catherine came and we were like: Yes! hurray! they're coming one last time! I think Jonathan Rhey (the King) was very happy to see them all :-)
I loved seeing Natalie and MDK in the credits again. Henry's confrontations with Katherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn were the highlights of the episode. I do wish Anne of Cleves and Katherine Howard had been included in the episode.
@Droomprins11 true, so true. And maybe katherine howard should come back and sat she hates henry and the world for not letting her be with the one she loved who was in truth Thomas Culpepper. Henry was basically a hypocrit
@chocolatefountain95 Well, Kathrine Howard knew the world she was born into and what was expected of her. She knew sleeping around the King would have consequences and she still did it. Yes she loved someone else, but she was also a Queen and whether she liked it or not, she should have known better.
@BetaArtemis Still. Henry was full of hypocrisy. He had tons of mistresses and from that - bastards. Anne was innocent and never had any lovers but he killed her for it and Katherine only had one measly lover as queen and she's sent to the block what an asshole
@chocolatefountain95 Anne may have been innocent of adultery but she was not innocent in her participation as a mistress or getting Henry to defy the whole Catholic Church just so she could be Queen. She did not give him the son she promised after everything he had risked, she knew what that road was leading down to. And with Katherine, it doesn't matter that it was one lover, as Queen who should be bearing the child of the King, her duty is to her Lord, she knew that.
@BetaArtemis You know that it is the man's sperm that decides the sex of the baby, right? So why are you blaming Anne Boleyn? It also a historical fact that Henry had researched divorce before he met Anne, it just happened to be her that made him get it. Had it not been her, there would have been someone else.
@ladythalia Did I say I blame Anne Boleyn for having a girl? And you don't have to give me some biology lesson. At that time period, the fault would have always been on her, and while I am not blaming her for that, for something she could not control, I am simply saying that this is what Henry's point of view was and that is how people view things back then. Anne knew the risks, she knew what would happen if she had given birth to a girl yet she chose this.
@BetaArtemis No need to be so hostile;-) To answer your question first; yes, your reply could very easily be interpreted as (at least partially)Anne Boleyns fault, IMO. Also:You are implying that one said no to a soveregn lord, but let's face it, one did NOT at that time period, as you yourself put it. Why do you think wife after wife accepted his hand in marriage, even with his bloody reputation. The only ones who dared to refuse, lived abroad, free of his mercurial, and often lethal, temper.
@BetaArtemis Furthermore: In a time where most people did NOT make a love match, you can hardly credit Anne for her marriage, without considering the will of her family, who had more than a little say in the union, for obvious reasons. Even his last queen, a widow, was eventually forced to accept his offer (unwillingly). That was his power: Absolute rule over his subjects. Fortunately that is water under the bridge now. But I still enjoyed writing my history master thesis about this subject:-)
@chocolatefountain95 And anyways, this isn't really about the matters of Henry's hypocrisy (which are plenty), but more about the fact that both Anne and Katherine knew the world they were getting into, they knew one wrong move could be the death of them, it is the way of that world they operated in, and while Anne I could feel more sympathy towards as she was innocent of adultery, I can't say the same for Katherine, she walked into that one all on her own knowing exactly what would happen.
I love to see them all back in the series. But why does Henry not see Katherine Howard or Anne of Cleves in a dream? I mean Katherine is dead and so she should be in the line. And Anne o C. was his wife too.
@Medusa0999 That would have made so much sense; they all were, after all, the cousins he betrayed. They should have had all the important people that he destroyed in the series (like Cromwell, Wolsey, More and the innocent men killed with Anne Boleyn) all watching him at the end. It would have captured exactly what he'd done in his life.
@Medusa0999 I can't say having Kathrine Howard would have that much of impact, she was guilty of the crimes of adultery, she really brought it on herself knowing what the consequences were. Out of his wives, seeing Catherine, Anne, and Jane had more effect than Kitty would, they were the three that were the mothers of his three living children.
Could have been much better. They should have removed all the young Henry stuff, added Edward, Mary and then Elizabeth to the scenes. And yes, they should have had Katherine Howard and Anne of Cleves at least make an appearance, as well as Wolsey, Thomas Moore and Cromwell. I don't think the final opening captured the effect he had on people.
@MelinaPendulum Henry Cavill had second billing behind JRM, starting from the second season. He and JRM are the only two to star in the show from beginning to end, so they had more prominence in the credits to show that. Everyone else was in alphabetical order. Joely Richardson was listed as a special guest star, and came at the end, like Peter O'Toole had had in season two.

It's a great opening, I have shivers and goosebumps! It would be even better if Sir Thomas More (Jeremy Northam) would be there, too... :(((

I agree, Kitty should have been standing silently besides Elizabeth during Anne's scene. But Anne of Cleaves was alive and did nothing for Henry.
