DVD Drive Not Recognized or Reading CD/DVD

It Says i need to update my windows right after i click run, so i do from the link, google, and typing it in, and then it takes me to internet explorer every time and says " Internet Explorer cannon display the webpage" with a diagnose button i click on and that says everythings perfectly fine -_- Any help on that?

Please help me! My Disk Drive does show up and it does work, but for some reason, it will NOT open any disc that I put into it. It has worked before and I have tried Microsoft Fix It, and not even that can detect anything. Also, it says my drivers are up to date. And when I put a disc into it, Windows Explorer crashes for about 5 minutes before telling me to enter a disc.

The CD/DVD drive burns DVDs and CDs and can read data CD/DVDs but it won't play movie DVDs. The region is set to Region 1 and it should be. I have updated the drivers and the software to run the DVDs, VLC and PowerDVD. And it still does not work. I have tried multiple DVDs and the only DVDs to play are ones that were created before the days of disc encryption. I am simply trying to play a DVD, not even trying anything illegal.

I've tried to delete the upper and lower filter and restarted my computer. Still no CD/DVD rom drive in my computer..... it didn't work for me, the thing told me to insert a supported disk, and I know that the disk was a supported one since I've used it on several other computers with no issues, then it refused to give me any solutions though it did recognize there was a problem. I'm so stuck >.<

However I trusted DELL for updates and I had bad problems with ATI BOY DO I FEEL STUPID> Never buy a Dell again. I got to a coffee shop and did the same thing. Hi, Thanks for the update. I've had 2 DVD CD problems and maybe this will help. I have a HP which more or less works on the internet. I have a 1 year old DELL where the DVD died. it seems to be there but it won't show on the monitor. Its a ATI Radeon. The Dell is not on the internet. But thats ok except can I download the fix it? Someone's vid here suggested deleting something in the reg but I'm reluctant to delete anything. THis seems to be a BIG problem any news of that?

@Dallouez If the Automated Troubleshooting method doesn't work for you, you could also try going to the Device Manager, uninstalling the DVD drive, and then Scanning for Hardware changes. That should detect the drive and re-install it. You can do this without being connected to the internet.

You're right, there are some easier, safer fixes to try before going into the Registry.
