  • Can draw agaisnt Fischer is a win really..

  • so many alternative moves that i had a really hard time following what the actual moves made were!

  • What I don't get is, most of the game you said Tal was better, or at least after the oversight by fischer. Then suddenly Tal is the exchange down, and forcing a draw. Why is that? When did Tal lose his edge? I don't think I heard you say he made a weak move or something...Or was that edge never enough to make a win? Anyone knows?

  • Tremendous game, nicely presented and expained. Thanks!

  • great videos

  • Impressive.

I like young Fischer... it seems he had more creational style... his battles against Tal was titanic... even draw were best games.

If not mistaken, the only loss Fischer analises in his book, it's exactly against Tal...

  • Tal could of won this game.

  • phenomenal what each saw to play their selected moves

  • Sharp!

  • Thanks, good commentary! Take Care, Buddy.

  • Simply brilliant. good commentry

  • its amazing how these players can estimate what position would favour whom in the endgame... thats one of those things i often find hard.

  • Sean, when you say Tal had a plus score against Fischer, how do you mean? Basically, how many times did they play and what are the stats?

  • Well, if you look online at chessgames it says they are tied 4-4 with an additional 5 draws. However, this includes two blitz wins of Fischers. So, in proper time controls, it is in fact 4-2 to Tal. But it should be added that most of Tal's wins came when he was at his peak and Fischer was still very young - maybe 15 or 16. Fischer was a brilliant player at that age, but not quite yet eclipsing Tal. Both taken at their peaks, most would agree that Fischer was stronger. All the best,

    Sean

  • Thanks Sean, this is great stuff.

  • awesome game Sean. So much going on; I'm re-watching it right now.

And definitely checking out the winawer afterwords. Seems like an opening with fascinating play for both sides.

    Thanks Sean.

  • Yes, the Winawer is a sharp one for sure. Enjoy!

  • sean..

Why don't we see such simplistic yet so imaginative chess now a days!

the game is filled with such beauty! black through out has a queen roaming around his king!

anyways i dont knw whether you noticed or not aftr Qxh7 by fishcher, the queen doesnt move the entire game! isnt that great? nice defensive and counterattacking play by tal!

  • Yes, you're right, I agree - although I think Magnus might be proving us wrong before long! I hadn't notcied how the queen stayed on h7, no - pretty impressive! It was a great game for sure. Glad you enjoyed it!

  • That's funny, I was always under the impression that this was one of the games they played while Tal was in the hospital. I wonder if any of those game(s) were recorded for posterity.

  • As far as I'm aware they were not, which is a shame. The position of the game is just about visible in one of the photographs though; I wonder if it has been analysed!

  • good 1 with the two greatest

  • Great commentary, great game. I enjoy your videos alot. Thanks.

  • Thanks tuka; glad you do! All the best,

    Sean

    Sean
