Honestly, as a trombone player familiar in classic and jazz, I'm not with his performance. If you want to hear some amazing jazz trombone, listen to Jimmy Cleveland. Trombone Shorty merely uses some flashy little tricks rather than truly virtuosic jazz playing.

@Dyllon2012 and that attitude is why jazz is so far removed from the mainstream. Who cares if it isn't pure jazz, no duh this isn't jazz it is a cover of, what, an ACDC song? Its music, its fun, and when its all said and done its still nice to hear. I hope he does grow into a bit more jazz playing, but come on down from the jazz arrogance and you know accept it for what it is, music, just music.

@Stormbubi It is a Tenor Trombone. Judging from the counterweight I would guess it is a King, probably a King III, popular jazz model from King for jazz.

@trombone922 Nope, he's playing on an Edwards, had to check out their site to make sure, but with the counterweight and the satin finish he has, I already knew. If you go to their website edwards-instruments /trombone/artists/index.php you can find out more about the horn he's using.
