My favorite Ronettes song. It doesn't get much better than this. It's only the three girls on this one, so we get to hear them in all their true glory. Thanks for the posting and great video!
on all the great ronettes songs, including "do i love you", it is so easy to hear cher and sonny as part of the background vocals, way before they were sonny & cher. but i never see it mentioned. noticeable too on "baby i love you". it is amazing to realize how long cher has been singing....and still going strong.
@MikeCinSantaMaria..Only the 3 girls were on this recording. No other back up singers were used on this one. Sonny and Cher were on others, most noticeable on "Be my Baby". You can really hear Sonny's nasal voice come through on that one, especially in the "sessions" recordings of the back up singers only, posted elsewhere on YouTube .
It is a real treat to hear the Ronettes just by themselves, using the Wall of Sound.
One dislike! What are you deranged you fool, idiot, moron and complete and utter prat!!!!One of the best ten records ever made.Pax to all from 73soulboy.Xxx.
I hope you people don't think I'm nuts but this song, oh this song makes the hair on the back of neck stand up. I listen tot his song like it was the only song ever made.
Yes it's that perfect. These groups are gone, like the wind that blew on those days.
It's a shame. No one makes music like this anymore. it was like it was supposed to be made just the way it is. Even God likes beautiful Music like this..............
I saw Ronnie Spectre at an outdoor concert in California in the 80s. Just as she started to sing Walking in the Rain, the rain started to pour down. A lot of the people got up and left the concert (can you imagine) and she kept right on singing. She has always been strong. May we be able to enjoy her for years to come!
@Mikes66442 I don't dispute that in it's time and place, the music of The Ronettes, The Shirelles, The Chiffons generally and the Phil Spectre sound, all 4 of which I adored musically, was unsurpassed. But in my opinion, for music to suit every mood, produced and performed with meaning, you can hardly compare the 2. In fact, why compare? They are like chalk and cheese.
i just melt when i hear this lady sing!,saw her few years ago in bilston for only the second ever time, would have seen her again in november in birmingham last year but the bad weather forced her to postpone the flight and i dont think it was ever re-scheduled.
7ov9 yes i remember summer of '64, best of times. just got my DL and listened to BeachBoys and wall of sound....almost didnt go back to school...these songs bring back fantastic memories of the Jersey Shore, Boardwalks, beach and fun.. then real-life set in.....
A real MASTERPIECE! It`s great that people still love this music despite the fact you can`t find it on the radio with very few exceptions! See the Top Comment on this, it almost brought tears to my eyes!
@DerGlaetze the intro of this record was used in a radio commercial for the action house in long island a book the girl groups has a whole chapter on the major groups like the shirells and the ronettes the lesser groups like the cookies get a paragraph
I believe it. I was just 8 or 9 years old, when this song first hit the airwaves here in the L.A. area.
I never forgot it. It is such a thrill to hear it again, after all these years.
It still gives me chills in my entire body, from start to finish. A person has to be made of stone not to get the same vibes. It's almost a spiritual experience, in some strange, good way.
OH!! That's me again! I'm 8 yrs old and I'm wearing my cute little dress with my skinny legs and I'm standing across the street from the bank!! HAHAHA!! Mom Sylvia took that photo too!!!!
@aattura long live the 60s allways a big big part of me i was born in62 but in the early 70s used to lisen to my sisters play a lot of lesley gore angels crystles so on so on i dont recall ths ronettes love them to

I was a real hood starting High School in Detroit and every time I heard I would light up a cigarrette so I could be COOOOOL like the song.Ronettes Best Ever Song.
brilliant song,I remember the first time they played the Plaza ballroom in Old Hill UK,they introduced themselves,Estelle was last and she said,I'm Estelle,I'm the sexy one and then she laughed but all us lads agreed with her, lol, truly a brilliant group and oh they were happy times
It was the Summer of 1964 . . . I had just got my license and bought my first car, a 1955 Chevrolet. That was the best Summer of my life. In August, as Summer drew to a close, I was sad to see it ending and having to go back to school so soon. Then something truly incredible happened - my Perfect Moment was created. This song came out and It was the perfect song to capture my perfect Summer. I wish all of you can have a perfect moment, too. Thank you Ronettes, present and departed.
@7ov9 What a sweet 60s memory. I know exactly what you mean. I've had perfect summer memories like that too... Life back then seemed so hopeful and sweet.
@SherryAnn68 I think we were born at the perfect time to have music so closely and beautifully capture all our most cherished moments. The music isn't gone as long as we keep listening to it. God bless.
Man...what gets me is the "Uh, Uh, Uh"....that sound they made still gives me goose bumps today as it did as a child the first time I ever heard this classic record.
Man do i remember..pulling up to a stoplight with the top down on my 59 vette and this song blaring out of the speakers..now in my twilight years but will never forget these special moments..just do not make music like this anymore..period
Ronnie in her bio Be My Baby says in June '64 Phil bought the 1st demo of Do I Love You to her home. After they ate dinner they went to her room & he put the demo playing on her record player. "I looked over at Phil sitting on the edge of my bed, saw a tear in his eye so leaned over & wiped it away...he was embarrassed that someone caught him crying & I just had to kiss him...he wasn't sure what to do next ...that's when I took control...I knew for sure I didn't want to be a virgin anymore."
@unclewalt56 Totally right. My vote on the greatest record ever made. I remember a 1979 D.J, said he was going to play the greatest record ever made and he played this. Oh - was he ever so correct. Do I Love You- The Ronettes- The greatest record ever made. I don't care what anyone says.
@unclewalt56 Well, I still think that Be My Baby is better, but this one is right up there, quite a sleeper. It should be played at the opening of yet another Scorsese film, like Mean Streets. The more that I listen to the Ronettes, the more that I realize how Brian Wilson was influenced by Phil Spector and the Ronettes. A lot of Wilsons later work (i.e. 1990's and up) borrows these sounds.
@ssaylor423 - it was a sound for the times-- a unique combination of The Ronettes voices and Spector's "Wall of Sound" using fantastic musicians from the "Wrecking Crew". Sadly we'll never hear the likes again and perhaps it's best left like that. As Spector himself said once in an interview--- "It's all about the timing"................
Here we are 46 years later and this song STILL rocks, and it will 46 years from now.
The junk they call music today won't be around in two years. This song is brilliance in every regard. Spector was a genius and the Ronettes were his greatest achievement. His Wall of Sound lives on.
In a way, it's too bad that such a fine artist..producer, arranger and writer such as Phil Spector is in prison. Such a waste of talent who developed that great wall of sound. This one by the Ronettes....is my favorite......and always will be. Thanks jameycruz2 for posting!!
