Dude this storm was nasty. I was in a gun range in newark nj and we could feel the thunder over the overpressure of the gunshots. Afterwards there was that weird orange tint until sunset and those mammatus clouds. coolest storm in the tri state area for a while, except for one in august 2008
isnt the biggest stor in nyc history the august 18th one in 2009?1000 trees went down in central park and me and my dad were in it......scary as phuck.we waited 2 hrs for everything to stop.
MRAAJDAR to some extent i agree with you. New York doesnt get as much severe weather as in the south but we get our fair share of severe weather too. One example is the severe thunderstorm of August of 2007 which i believe produced a tornado and dropped buckets of rain which cause massive subway delays and closings. Or mayb the severe thunderstorms of 1979 which knocked out power to the entire city and i believe in 2004, lightning produced power outages in parts of lower manhattan.
@noreaga12326 wow i was just thinking about that morning the other day and yes it did produced a tornado which was in brooklyn had winds up to 135mph i believe idk i got the answer from kgb texting thing
@noreaga12326 you're talking about the one on August 8 2007. 630 am a tornado hit South Brooklyn and cause flooding to the subways. Then on 09/16/10, a tornado hit my area and other parts of Brooklyn and Queens.
new york also gets its fair share of severe thunderstorms though. Back in 1979 a severe thunderstorm knocked out power to the entire city. In 2004 lightning knocked out power to parts of lower manhattan. I remember the one in 2004 cuz not only were subways effected but the E train had no A/C because of the power outage. That was torture. to some extent you are right but believe me, new york gets a lot of severe weather and im sure we'l get plenty more in the future.
