Bert to Ernie:Go Watch the Window good boy! and when Ernie tricks Bert with the Elephant and Ernie does the laugh and Bert copies Ernie's laugh, that cracks me up!
Why did Ernie and Herry monster bother to steal the chair, if they were not interested in watching the show which was on TV that time? They just wasted good tricks...:-)
Where is this quality of writing in kid's programming today? Simply humorous, timeless, and still relevant. I laughed at this seeing it now in my 40's just as I did when I was 6 or 7...
I don't think Bert is cool enough to like the Beatles. He is a respectable nerd. Says, "Swing" to marching band music. Then he's on to "the weather" and "The Wonderful World of Pigeons".
Too bad tv couldn't stay like this forever. I'm 45....watched this stuff when I was a kid and it still makes me laugh. Bert is such an oddball. "Wonderful World of Pigeons"! HA! Cracks me up.
Know what I love about Sesame Street skits like this? There are barely ANY cuts in the entire scene. It's not bludgeoning the viewer with a new cut and a new angle every 3 seconds. It's counting on the viewer to actually have enough patience to sit down and watch the entire damn thing without losing interest.
I believe he's just a Snuffleupagus. He was never seen by anyone except Big Bird for a long time. I have to agree that he's very elephant-ish, though.
LOL!!! :D This is hilarious! "Alright! If that's the way you're gonna BE about it!" and bert all up in Ernie's face. I'm still laughing. :D and bert laughing with glee. The sarcasm! hilarious. Genius.
Bert was gullible enough to believe Ernie's elephant lie but to believe Harry's lie that a dinosaur escaped the museum and somehow got into the bedroom? Could someone tell them how to get to Bellevue from Sesame Street?
lol, what I've noticed is that ernie is a real pain in the ass. He's suppose to be Berts best friend and he always seems to make Berts life that more complicated.
LOL they remind me of Joey and Chandler on Friends. Joey/Ernie, Chandler/Bert, esp the episode 'where no one's ready' with the chair fight haha so cute.
Oooo Ernie was being a bit bossy to Bert when he said come back tomorrow for his chair and no chance.
Also Harry the monster yeah i remember him that was classics when he told them a dinosaur was in their bedroom. And someone must've left the backdoor open for him to come in.
Wow- that was awesome! I think I vaguely remember this one from childhood... I love Herry's line- a dinosaur escaped from the museum? What- did the bones come to life or something? Outside of God's intervention, at least Ernie's story about the elephant was plausible! LOL :-)
Yeah, but at least here his nose wasn't all furry like it was in his really early days.
This clip is great except for the last part. I kind of would have preferred it if it had simply ended with all three of them watching TV in the chair.
That was one of the things I liked about this skits...the way that it's so subtle that Herry just happens to be in the apartment and Bert and Ernie don't pay it any mind. No "Hey! How did you get in here?" I also liked the subtlety of Bert not being afraid of the dinosaur, he just wants it off his bed.
there was this time that [gasp]you had to get up out of your chair to turn it on or off and Change Channels
also they did not have cableTV either you needed rabbitears to recieve the signal...then after the invention of CableTV we gave the rabbit ears back to the rabbit.... :-)
What makes you say a black and white TV? It's probably the same TV set from the H sketch and that a had a blue H in it, which would indicate a colour TV. And also, it's 1970s America, surely they'd have a colour set?
Herry must have been crashing at their place that night.
