This was NOT a wrong doing. I went to UCLA and I recall that EVERYONE was subject to ID checks late at night in Powell library or any library. You simply show your student ID and move on. There was no reason for this punk to act like a tough guy. He was clearly defiant and refused to comply. Security did their job properly. I commend them for showing him THAT much patience. I would knocked his stupid ass out for being a little bitch.

As we do not see the initial tazering, it is impossible to know whether it was justified. However, knowing the effects of being tazered on the body, as well as taking into account the fact that there were enough police officers there to have escorted him safely away without the second use of the tazer gun, there was nothing just or necessary in the secong use of the tazer gun. If police tells you to leave, you leave. If you give attitude to the police, you're responsible for the consequences. And getting tazered is much less dangerous, than wrestling inside a library, where there are many sharp edged furnitures, tables etc.

It's called being an adult. If you screw up by not bringing your ID when you know that's the policy, you take responsibility for that. You pack up and leave, and do so in a way that doesn't disturb the other students. You don't act as if you are above the rules by dragging your feet, or that being inconvenienced is of such earth-shaking importance that it's OK to derail everyone else's work. If he had been mature about it, the situation wouldn't have escalated.

As we do not see the initial tazering, it is impossible to know whether it was justified. However, knowing the effects of being tazered on the body, as well as taking into account the fact that there were enough police officers there to have escorted him safely away without the second use of the tazer gun, there was nothing just or necessary in the secong use of the tazer gun. Additionally, the threats to bystanders by the officers were unjustified, further proving their abuse of power.

If police tells you to leave, you leave. If you give attitude to the police, you're responsible for the consequences. And getting tazered is much less dangerous, than wrestling inside a library, where there are many sharp edged furnitures, tables etc.

There are/were a dozen ways to solve the issue without escalating it to a gang of police using tazer on a student... The meathead cops skipped all the steps between 'please leave' and 'tazer on you'. When we (and two commenting students did) take this as 'normal', America is in trouble! Wake up!!!

It is a shame that in a country where democracy and human rights are supposed to be respected and encouraged, we see such violent police activity at a college campus, a place of higher education. Was it racism??? We do have racism in the US yes. But more importantly tazers also have to be used only when there is a physical threat, not even verbal!

He is just a student ! The oficcers ill treated him as if he is an animal ! Who can stand up after an electrical shock easily ! He must sue them but I am not sure he can get his right due to his nationality ...

Initially he was leaving and the officers kept grabbing him, hence the "don't touch me".
Second if you get tazered 1 or 2 times in the same region you may experience temporary paralysis for up to 15 mins.
Students should not be treated with such contempt and hostility like criminals.
That is why there Los Angeles always ends up as the only city where abuse of this magnitude leads to riots. (ie LA Riots of he 90's).

this is a "PUBLIC" library. why are they checking ID? this is the problem. The University of California thinks they are police state as they have been given too many powers by the people. must take them back.clear inhumane police brutality in any case.

all u idiots trying to make conclusion out of this commentary, go watch the whole video. they were kinna up on him the whole way. there was more than one police officer they shouldve just handcuffed him or took him away. ofcourse u r gonna yell at police if they un expectadly taser u, that shit burns like hell if u dont beleive me than taser ur ass.. and than he got tasered like five times???

They didn't have to make him stand. There's plenty of people that police have to "carry" to complete their duty. To taser a person 3+ times is ridiculous; especially when people die from such events. "Stand up or get tasered till you have possible medical injuries(including death)." I wonder how people would of responded if the student was killed, would those same actions by the officers be justfied then?

Although his behavior wasn't too clever, it is definitely police brutality as it is unnecessary force.
