@Wesker1982 It's accurate on letting you know how much work you are doing each day. Since making this video I've decided that calories are a lie. If you want to use the bodybugg to track how much work you are doing it's a good tool for that.
Thank-you so much. I just weighed in, 2nd week, I measured EVERYTHING on a digital scale, ate 1200-1500/day and burned 2700-3500/day. I had a defecit of 14200 for the week. I should have lost 4 pounds but I lost 1.5. Body bug said i ate too much. I thought if a normal person has 3500 defecit for a pound and I have to do 14000 a pound whats wrong with me and how will I be successful at this? Your video helped, I'll keep trying. Thanks!!!
And DIet is EVERYTHING. The sad prevailing prevailing opinion seems to be that you can eat anything you want as long as you go out and exercise. WRONG.. Eating nutritious food that gives your body what it wants is essential. All refined sugar, flour, cake, cookies, diet sodas and anything other than lean chicken, fresh NOT cooked vegetables and fruit ( NOT juice!!) is the ticket. You also need of course to drink plenty of fresh water and exercise preferable lifting weights to build muscle
The sad part that most people are slaves to the scale. The scale means nothing. If you work out and build muscle, then the muscle is denser by volume than fat. You will look better and feel better and your shape will change but your weight might not by much.. Also, the faster you lose weight, the faster you will put it back on. You MUST give your body a chance to acclimate to the new change in body chemistry otherwise it will try to maintain what it was before. Forget the scale.
I just bought a bodybugg online today. I noticed this was posted a year ago. In your experience, have you noticed whether they've fixed this 'bug' on their website? :)
@RachelMarie81 It's still the same but as time goes by it equals out. The first week or two it may be off, but then it will become more accurate the longer you track.
THIS was really helpful. I purchased a Body Bugg recently (3 weeks ago) and I feel like I've been all over the place with my weight so far. I sometimes feel as though I haven't burned as many calories as it says I did...
I was searching stuff on bodybugg.. I'm getting a bodybugg. I agree that would really mess people up if they didn't know better. Your Rant Cracks me up :o) I think its INSANE that people don't understand that your weight can flucuate :o) for all those reasons.
I use the GoWearFit, which is the same as bodybugg, but I stopped using their website. I use The Daily Plate instead (which is now on Lance Armstrong's "Livestrong" site) because it has the biggest food database--I defy you to search for a food that isn't already listed with calories, fats, sodium, protein, etc. I just enter the calories the GoWearFit monitor tells me I've burned into that site and the overall pictures (as well as graphs, reports, etc.) are incredible!
Thanks, I have wondered how exactly hydration affects weight (how much water equals how much weight). Especially here in TX this summer; I have been doing a lot of sweating.
I have to agree on the limitations of the bodybugg. I know that it is a bit off on some of its calories burned computations. For example - the stepper - since there are no arm movements - it computes it under calories actually burned. I use thedailyplate to log my calories - I found bodybugg too cumbersome. Ok and one more gripe - It is ugly! I need pink :)
Seriously though - great job on the loss and the motivating videos! Your Rock! And we could use a side of Lee!!!
I actually spoke with them because the #'s were off and they explained if you were doing something without arm exertion included the numbers could be off. So then I bought a pink polar HRM :)
Makes sense.. that must be why on the 'biggest loser' they are always yelling at them to let go of the handles on the treadmills... get that arm movement in..
Not sure there is one.. if there is it's probably on the 'down low' You have to pay a subscription to use there service and its all done on the web (so you can't hack the program to be able to use it for free)
I don't blame you for the rant. I can understand why your so pissed. I considered bodybugg. I often wondered if the calories burned is accurate...It seems like the numbers get pretty outrageous, sometimes. I've lost 6lbs in 4 weeks...I must be eating non-stop!
I might have to make another video here.. I LOVE my bodybugg.. I would recommend one to anyone.. I think anyone trying to lose weight, if they can afford it should buy one.. But.. I just wanted to give people a heads up on what I feel is a flaw in their system.
I agree that the web interface must have some "logic" in it that is trying to tell people something, who knows what that may be. Like anything we have to use our brains to figure out what is really going on.
A caution: If you are not careful people will stop seeing you as a crazed, slightly overweight ex jock doing wild crazy ass stuff and begin to see you as a very intelligent and motivating personality that is making real progress toward his goal. I'm just saying.....
This is kinda like a fork in the road moment then?? Hmm.. not sure which way to pick. Lee kinda brings out the crazy in me maybe I should get him back in the saddle.
I got bodybugg partly because of your vids. Thanks for the heads up!

So besides the buggy software, does it seem accurate in estimating how many calories you burn? TY!

question on the bodybugg. how are you suppose to track the calories of the food you eat at home?
vainball123 1 year ago
@vainball123 its all done online through the bodybugg site.. you login and log what you eat.

@rlaurencin01 I think the bodybugg is fairly accurate on calories burned. Make sure you are eating enough.. Don't try to lose more than 2 lbs a week.
