I think I get what you mean by "hiding sometime crowd." When you go to a befay(misspelled), you get to choose form many different foods, but all that food may make you a little fearful, so you only get the one you already, burger and fries, and miss out on trying something that could have be really good.
(cont) Anyway, all the series that funimation, hulu, crunchyroll, etc have are legitimate sources of anime. They actually help the anime industry, and if anything, we need to watch more anime on there so they can draw in more revenue for the Japanese anime companies XD
As for censorship, well, I think SOPA and PIPA would have thrown us in jail if we looked at anime in an illegal way, or downloaded any songs from our favorite series. Drama CD's are hard to come by in a legal way though..
I would review anime, but its not like I'm aware of any obscure treasures or something =\ Just about everything I really like has already been reviewed, some an infinite number of times! Even if I could make a review, I'm not exactly book smart or have much presence when speaking into the microphone. I'm too shy and quiet! NOBODY CARES WHAT I THINK! @ A @ (continued in comment #1!)
Have you played Metal Gear Solid 2? That game goes into the subject of information becoming irrelevant as too much worthless junk we probably shouldn't care about becomes filtered.
The idea of censorship as the hiding of knowledge is interesting, but I don't think it's quite accurate. We censor things like child pornography, but that's not the hiding of knowledge. Within an American context SOPA is problematic because it compromises the basic principles of American democracy, which is the supremacy of society over the state. The state can't be allowed to censor us; the state exists at our behest.
@Philosotaku Alright this idea may sound cool, but within the American intellectual tradition civil society is not the state. Citizens are NOT the state. The only time the state becomes synonymous with civil society is if you have fascism. We create the state, the state works at our behest, but we are not the state and the state is not us. The state is an apparatus that has a legitimate monopoly on force.
@Philosotaku did the all ready start taking down vidz on anime ? i am looking at code geass r2 but vdoe bb does,t work and it not just on that anime it on all lot i am seeing the sopa has,t bean decided yet why are they starting to soon and i agree everything you just said i wanna library anime to look at :)
I love how you brought up the books 1984 and Fahrenheit 451. Both are excellent books about dystopian societies, and 1984 is one of my personal favorites. I think you made some excellent points about censorship in your video. I do like it when you do this broad topic videos.
also there is this great website called anime-planet. Its kind of like a database of all anime, and there are a lot of reviews there. I personally have written a few.
Well as someone who reviewed anime till college sucked all my time away, it really comes down to the fact that it's really hard for someone to review anime and want to keep going as I never really got more than 100 views on any of my videos and all my subs were people who already loved anime
Nice video. I really liked your point about market saturation. I totally agree. There's so many great animes I'd like to see, but my access to them is limited and time too short. There's probably a hundred other anime I'd enjoy, but I'll just never hear about.

@Philosotaku And the criteria for how the state can use that force is derived from the consent of the governed.
