@mlc2005 Actually, 2nd.  Remember, the rule changes after the 1988 season made the first tiebreaker, the higher Artistic Impression marks in the Long Program. Prior to that (1981-1988), the first tiebreaker was the Technical Merit mark. Nevertheless, Boitano scored 5.9/5.8, while Fadeev got 5.8/5.8. Orser was given 5.7/5.9.

Yeah, but all of the Soviet judges were corrupt, so being "replaced" really meant nothing.

Why is Danilenko still involved in the sport even into the 2000s. She is clearly a corrupt judge who is only interested in pushing the Soviet or Russian skaters.

The ironic thing is needing only to finish 3rd to stay in 1st overall he could have probably won with just the first 3 big mistakes (steps out/touchdowns) and not had the 2 falls. Or maybe even with just 1 of the falls and the other 3 mistakes he could have done that. It probably wouldnt have taken much to beat kotin and Petrenko in the long program. He was stupid to try the quad after all those other mistakes. If he isnt even landing his normal jumps he is way off and wont land a quad.
