There were over 100,000 people protesting against Walker in Madison last winter/spring. A very few of them compared Walker to Hitler, etc. Get 1,000 Tea Partiers together and you get all kinds of racist signs.
@lima33ful I just LOVE the way you defend your position with extreme vagueness. It's not even possible to know whether you dislike my comments about Al Gore, or hypocrisy.
@ge556 Yes, you also have to remember the left does the EXACT SAME THING! But when they do it, it is directed at the Tea Party, and it is on national TV. Did you say anything then?
@ge556 Do you know that Christianity is correct? The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. Jesus is coming again and the signs of the end times that were foretold in the Bible are coming to pass.
most of the examples of violent rhetoric were not examples of violent rhetoric. calling someone a dictator or comparing them to hitler is not violent. it's not a particularly effective way of making one's specific objections to policy heard, but also not viiolent.
and, oh yeah, don't forget to
RECALL SCOTT WALKER THIS TUESDAY, AUGUST 9th. c u there.
@beesleeper They are one and the same. You seem to be completely ignorant of what fascism really is and the type of government that it requires. Fascism requires an all powerful centralized government - one that can control wages, production and profits - sort of like you liberals want. Conservatives want a SMALLER government precisely because we don't want fascism.
@beesleeper Democrats are the fascists: Anti-Jewish, anti-Christian, pro-abortion, pro-Sharia. Democrats are not on the side of America, but on the side of Mexico, France, CAIR, and Castro.
Nawww, dumbass. All historians and thinkers teach that Fascism is a product of the right. Right Wing Authoritarianism, the "authoritarian personality" and so on--- were you inclined to read, which a dumbfuck like you is not. And what's wrong with abortion ? A zygote is not a person. It's a clump of tissue.
@beesleeper You liberals are dumbasses. Didn't you lefties lecture all of us on civility shortly after what happened in Arizona? The only "historians" and "thinkers" you support are all paid by the Democratic Party. You leftist dumbfucks can't even follow your own advice!
@beesleeper You Democrats are fuckstains. It was you Democrats who were going around demanding civility and tolerance after what happened in Tucson. However, you prove you're thugs who can't even follow your own advice.
The Democrats blamed everyone but the gunman for the Tucson Massacre. And what did those same Democrats say shortly after Fort Hood? Not to jump to conclusions. Did I insult you lefty? Quick, call the civility police!
@beesleeper No, Beesleeper, LIBERAL historians and psuedo-thinkers think Fascism is a product of the right.
They wish to hide the vast Chasm that distinguishes the two philosophies and play up similarities that are NOT really tenets of the right but are in fact merely characteristics of all despots both right and left. Meanwhile the simultaneously ignore the massive number of similarities between the left wing ideologies of today and play up the very few dissimilarities.
You're a crackpot. None of that is true. You've never been to a college in your life. You live in the little crackpot basement of rightist dumbshits yammering at each other.
@beesleeper Well, lets compare. Left wing ideas and tenets that the Nazis also held and implemented.
Minimum Wage laws, Maximum wages, Profit limitations, price controls, rent controls, govt. telling business WHAT to make and HOW MUCH to make - pretty much sacrificing INDIVIDUAL rights to the all powerful rights of the STATE. Nazis wanted central planning and an all powerful centralized government - As do the leftists.
Does anyone know if the Wisconsin state govt. is hiring? I have 20 years administrative experience at a Fortune 500 company and can supply the best of references. I would LOVE to have one of these state govt. jobs. I also have several friends who would be interested in applying.
How is comparing Scott Walker to fascist's wrong. Scott Walker does fascist things. Is calling someone who wants universal health care a "socialist" wrong? Scott Walker is doing the same thing fascists have done so he is kind of fascist.
@ToddAldrich Smaller government? Scott Walker is making it his sole duty to tell people that they cannot bargain. That's called big brother and huge government. He hasn't scaled down government he is making government more powerful over the people. This is Walker dictating economics in a free capitalist society workers can collectively bargain, if they get fired, well they get fired. But you can't "dictate" how people bargain because any official has no say in economics- free market.
@THEINVENTABLETHREAT Um, those workers are part of the government. There is not free market when you are working for the government - there is no competition.
If you want a free market - let Walker privatize your job.
If you are a teacher, you sure as hell shouldn't be with that level of ignorance.
@ToddAldrich Um, it's not that Walker is going to privatize government work, which actually costs more money. He's going to have government workers. The false notion that privatizing government work saves money is a dream, not coherent with any facts. He wants to stop workers from organizing...Oh unless they supported his run for governor- that's not big gov. Teachers that are union are ignorant, so in your world the educated are ignorant and the ignorant are educated, I bet with "common sense"
@THEINVENTABLETHREAT SHEESE, are you illiterate, or do you just have trouble with comprehension?
Go back and read my post again, then perhaps you will delete your last post, because it has NOTHING to do with what I said, other than you used some of the same words.
You made the claim that the government workers were being denied free market rights - when the free market has NOTHING to do with government workers - there is no competition.
@ToddAldrich So government workers shouldn't have rights? The reason why we are in this much debt in the first place is because of government privatizing. The war in Iraq, Medicare, and defense contracts are the reason why we are in debt and you want more of the same?
@THEINVENTABLETHREAT You also seemed to think i was commenting on the virtues of privatization. While I might do that, the only reason it was brought up was to clue you in on how the free market would apply to government workers - it wouldn't unless they were no longer government workers and were privatized.
The Teacher reference was ONLY to you - I was stating that if YOU are that ignorant of what the free market is, you should not be a teacher, because your ignorance is astounding.
If your really interested in reality search "Simple Solution to Wisconson Budget Crisis". The YouTube post very clearly makes the case based on soon to be recalled Scott Walker's own budget numbers that all that has to be done is increase taxes $32 per adult to resolve the issue. However the GOP strategy goes far is not about only budget issues is it? You must really think voters are stupid. Guess we will see what happens in the next election, I can't wait :-)
@ToddAldrich Oh and fox propoganda and republicunts never lie hahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahha bush - "lets get bin laden lets attack I raq - they have wmds and bin laden is hiding there ----later after more dead americans - its bin laden who cares WHO CARES THAT ALL THE HIJAKCERS WERE FROM SAUDI ARABIA - you are stupid - no one has to project a damn thing - republicunts and bush guilty the end
What now GOP? Walker was FORCED to admit in front of a committee that the bill does NOT save the state a single dollar...now what? What new reality will you invent to keep your sheep in line? Dont worry though, the few that still believe in you will NEVER turn against you...everyone else though are GONE. You lost the militia, you lost the veterans, you lost most of the national guard...all you have left are the Tea Partiers that are senile and the neo-con slaves.
Walker has torn Wisconsin in half, while those with obscene amounts of wealth are laughing at us all. Let's face it- folks ran M&I bank in to the ground and left with multi-million dollar bonuses. How many jobs did that screw-up cost us?
So long as the Tea Party is funded by billionaires with ties to the John Birch society, I can't see how they fit in Wisconsin. That's not us.
FREE, FREE Food stamps!!!!!!!! 4-Life Yea, Just like FREE, FREE TRADE NAFTA REAGAN/Milton/Clinton! Every choice in American should be free even if it tramples on someone's else's rights! That is a Republican for ya! Who are the real spongers & freeloaders??????????????????? Milton even thinks we should legalize all drugs! hmm and liberals are supposedly the only party that so-call pro drugs?
VOTE BUSH: A MAN who flinched when we were attacked, bailed out banks of so-called self-responsibility, could not catch Bin Laden, let the floodgate of tomato lovers over his fence in Texas, had his votes overturned in Florida to cheat Gore, love the Right to Work to actually be a Right to be a Slave and bow down to his hispanic votes to match their incomes and erode middle class. "IAM SURE GENERAL PATTON WOULD BE PROUD of sush a man in George Bush!
yea,... lets just go ahead and pass a bill BEFORE we know whats in it. Gov Walker has D.C. on his mind. hes one of these wall street shmucks. only reason hes gov. is cuz it was the lowest voter turn out in a decade, and his campaign slogan was " im anti Obama " (p.s. Walker gave up on college and did marketing for a career before he was ever elected for office.. My POINT.. hes a salesman and his best skill is closing a sale)
@itachi705 I'm not sure who you were responding to with this comment, but you lose all credibility when you resort to using foul language. Walker is a real piece of work, but he'd be powerless without his rubber stamp followers like the Fitzgerald brothers and Alberta "Not My" Darling.
"""""You stupid republican whoredog. Everyone has a choice. These good people by their majority chose to have a union represent them""""
Not really since most of the public sector jobs that the unions are in, make it mandatory as a condition of employment. That is not a choice. This LAW forbids this. and allows you the option to join. READ THE BILL! The term is limit, not bust.

Walker let pseudo Koch know that he wasn’t going to use crowd busting tactics on the WI people, but put a few bogus signs in the crowd? “people can pay for protesters to come in to a crowd,” “Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker Prank Call”” this was a response to pseudo Koch comment’s on placing Hobo’s in public.
And I am sure that those crowds going to the homes of the Republican senators are all hired hands too, and the people who sided with him in the polls, and the union boss forcing small business owners to hang signs to support the unions.
That is all really a secret sect of the Republicans.
Germans are known to be conservative here in America when they build anything. Bush loves conservative catholic hispanics as well to bring down wages because of overflooded immigration. Does anyone see a trend anyone? Which group is actually being led into extreme socialism and don't even know it? Who really mimicks Hitler the most? Religious groups put strict policies to force more less socialism secretly on the state and local levels. Sign, signs everywhere is signs forcing change robots
@daleflix Unions who will take everything that is not nailed down? That's good. Have you ever heard of 'hedge funds' or 'investment banks'? The reason we're fighting each other over the scraps is that they put the middle class out of work, crashed the real estate market, and took our $3 trillion dollars. The Unions offer concessions, the investment bankers offer denials, and also keep the money. Fight the real enemy.
@daleflix Dale, I don't for a minute think that either party 'caused the crash'. Pretty sure it was Citi, Bank of America, and Deutsche Bank, and they definitely have no political affiliation. If you're implying that Democrat policies led to the crash, I'll just say that the by the Bush presidency, most loans were not even subject to the Community Reinvestment Act. The decision to lend to sub-prime borrowers pure moral hazard taken on by lenders chasing high interest rate loans.
Your opinion notwithstanding, the public service unions are direct supporters of the Democrat Party and therefor have an unfair lobby in what policies get implemented. This must be stopped !
@daleflix Public unions gave 500k to statewide candidates across about 110 statewide elections, but corporations outspent them 20 to 1. Who has an unfair lobby? Corporations got 150 million in tax credits, so apparently it worked.
What don't you understand about this? A taxpayer is paying a union to give money to a political party. The taxpayer has no say about this and is in fact told to give more whether they like it or not.
You've got to be kidding me if you think this is balancing the tables in any way.
Either you are ignorant of the facts of what ACTUALLY happened of you are purposefully misleading (LYING) about it
1-Dems passed laws REQUIRING banks to loan $ to people they shouldn't have
2-Banks packaged the loans together to try and get investors to take a bite of the 5hit sandwich so they didn't have to eat it all themselves (high risk=high reward)
3-Surprise! The people who wouldn't have gotten loans in the first place defaulted on them and the economy fell
@Pondo1221 CRA was an after-the-fact review process with no civil penalties attached, not a mandate. CRA had no authority to force lenders go sub-prime, that happened for reasons that you've partially covered. By the 2000s, most (3/4) loans were not reviewed by CRA. To start, read 'The Big Short' by Michael Lewis. He never uses 'Democrat' of 'Republican' anywhere in the book, because it's just not relevant. The industry was miles ahead of govt policy.
You are correct in regards to the 1st CRA in the '70's that Carter passed, it's the changes and mandates put on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in the '90's that DIRECTLY made them issue bad loans. It also changed the way banks were rated if they didn't make high risk loans. So even though it was not specific, banks were rated badly if they didn't make them
Look who sponsored + pushed for these regulations - ALL liberal Democrats
So it's NOT propaganda, it is a conclusion based on facts
@Pondo1221 Yes, FM&FM secuitized loans, but at what point would you say the due diligence falls on the originator? Nobody forced them to write subprimes in the market percentage that they did. They did it because it was profitable to write high interest loans, pure free market motives. This is a case of Barney Frank, GW Bush, and the Fed skipping off arm-in-arm down the yellow brick road. If you want me to blame any one of them more than the others, then I pick...um...the Fed.
@pollclaire False. 2007, Bernanke`s words. "CRA reaffirmed the long-standing principle that financial institutions must serve the needs, including credit needs, of the communities. The obligation of financial institutions to serve their communities was seen as a quid pro quo for privileges such as the protection afforded by federal deposit insurance and access to the Federal Reserve's discount window ." In other words, make crap loans or no Fed credit, FDIC insurance! Want the URL??
@luvcheney1 Yes, FM&FM secuitized loans, but at what point would you say the due diligence falls on the originator? Nobody forced them to write subprimes in the market percentage that they did. They did it because it was profitable to write high interest loans, pure free market motives. This is a case of Barney Frank, GW Bush, and the Fed skipping off arm-in-arm down the yellow brick road. If you want me to blame any one of them more than the others, then I pick...um...the Fed.
@pollclaire WE agree, if you are blaming the Fed. Because without loose monetary policy, there wouldnt have been a housing bubble. Without the excessive increase in housing values, there wouldnt have been the excessive crash, which made foreclosure a joke, as homes were worth so little, compared to mortgaghes. However, panics and crashes are NOT new, and wild, speculative behavior is part of a bubble. Wall Street erred, but so did every refinancing homeowner, who overextended himself.
@luvcheney1 The run-up in housing prices was about the only thing fueling economic growth in the mid-2000s. I became critical of Fed policy in about '05, as economists started to talk about a real-estate bubble, but I know lots of friends, even consultants and financial people, who weren't worried. Pulled my money out of the market in summer of '08 when Indy Mac went under, bought back in at 7000. $ca-CHING$.
Thanks. Using 5 in Bull5hit is a habit like using 0 in 0bama, except in 0bama it also is both descriptive and humorous
As far as the loans go, the laws were passed by Clinton, not GW. The derivitives were created by the banks NOT to make $ specifically, but to lower their exposure to the downside of the high risk loans they HAD to make. Like I said, they tried to get as many people to take a bite of the 5hit sammich as possible with them. Even some schools around here did.
Hmmm lets just ignore that Conservative supporters continually call Obama an evil socialist or the next face of adolf Hitler, and Conservative leaders saying how he's after socialism and is trying to destroy America (as well as Sarah Palin's now infamous contributions). And when Republicans fear monger to gain support and pass crap like the patriot act its not exactly a stretch to brand them fascists as they are taking away peoples rights......
100,000 people, about half carrying signs...not too hard to cherrypick a few bad ones. This "revolt" has been mostly notable for it's lack of violence. If the point of the video is to never vote for any party whose supporters sometimes make inane comparisons, are the Repubs really a better choice? Right.....
@gmantwo execpt of course for the death threats and the threats made by the police, fire and worker unions saying that if you are not with us you are against us.
@gmantwo actually did they not break into the office...hhmmm and these protesters are FAR worse than the tea party....i challenge you to find this many signs calling for death of violent overthrow from the right.
Why do you keep showing the same signs? There are thousands of signs out there on the capitol square for you to choose from. Aren't there enough inflammatory signs to support the point you are trying to make? Guess not.
I like how one sign says "**Political*** Death to Tyrants" and you get all crazy over it!
Five states specifically prohibit collective bargaining for educators. Their SAT score rankings are:
Virginia – 34th
North Carolina – 38th
Texas – 45th
Georgia – 48th
South Carolina – 49th
I wonder where Wisconsin ranks. Oh, yeah! Wisconsin's THIRD! Go ahead, check the College Board! Challenge your own ignorant bias! And maybe consider enrolling in a Statistics class.
Scott Walker made the difficult choices, Scott Walker did the right thing, the thing those bozos that ran to Illinois refused to deal. Walker is correct! Look how the democrats have made crying fools of themselves, with all the wrong arguments. The democrats are in the pocket of government unions, those same unions that make slaves of taxpayers
@runnermonkey Dude since when did union dues become a taxpayer expense? Union members pay taxes and put on their pants one leg at a time. Imagine that a republican wants to cut how much money goes to unions? Hell these union organizers are just giving these public employees more say in their state duties. Choice must be unamerican when a republican is cutting funding for his next opponent. But I never had any of the companies I worked for, ask me who I supported in an election. Fuck republicans!
@teabaggersblow gov union members have no choice they must join the union, gov unions wage and benifit increases are at the expense of already overTAXED taxpayer, Gov unions clearly rape the taxpayer, gov unions run the way they are, would destroy private business as it has in fact in the past.
@runnermonkey You stupid republican whoredog. Everyone has a choice. These good poeple by their majority chose to have a union represent them. If you think that is unamerican you better look at the polls. Republicans are the all unamerican team and they better find another topic to start some shit about. So carry on you little deather, birther, tenther or civil war re-enactor..........whaterever makes you happy.
Walker is the man, I would vote for him for president. He is busting up the propaganda machine that is supported by the government unions. NO MORE, down with Government unions, private unions are ok, but no more government unions working against the AMERICAN PEOPLE!! taking our money and using it against us! screw that
In the end, unions are just a group led by greedy people that only seek to grab as much money as they can and not worry about how that business can be affected, and how that business can affect the local economy, which affects the national economy. Their only focus is the more green that will go into their pockets.
Unions are greedier than the companies they say are robbing their workers of money. The only thing the union leaders are concerned about is the decrease amount of money from dues their member's pay. Higher the wage, more money the union gets. More money the union gets, the more money democrats get. It all goes in a circle that only hurts the working americans and businesses.
What about those people who don't belong to a union? What happens to a business if they can't keep up with their demands?
Guess what?! conservatives have flaws and liberals have flaws! There you go, happy. There is no one party that does not benefit from the other, and the quality of progress would go down if the other side doesn't exist. This is who we are, people who have opinions and express them, whether with ignorance are righteousness. This is what makes us who we are. What doesn't make us who we are now is unions because they pose a threat to middle class workers and the welfare of businesses.
@AcePilot101 that's right the real nazis here are the government worker unions, why don't federal workers have unions? private unions are ok, but anyone working of taxpayer dollars should not have a union AGAINST THE AMERICAN PEOPLE that pay their wages. This is a union against us! forcing us to pay what they demand for a union that campaigns for their chosen candidates that they fund for later favors and kick backs. THIS IS CORRUPTION and these protesters are too stupid to realize it.
Time to take the gloves off for these thieving bastards. Mass strikes can only be around the corner. Walker will wish he had the union tops to help him diffuse and control the anger of the rank and file. Democracy - what a joke! Workers unite!
The saddest thing about this whole situation is that these are the people, or a representation there of, that are running our country! Worse yet is that we put them there! It doesn't matter whether you are a republican or a democrat!!! Grow up people! We are all responsible! We have allowed this to happen! Now let's not condemn those who try and fix it!!!
PS: just a quick review of these comments serves to confirm just how much trouble we are in!!!
Inpart an issue is the wages paid some gov union folks is outragious ie:madison teachers The District shall pay all eligible retirees 19% of the eligible retiree’s highest annual salary each year for three years, in thirty-six (36) monthly installments. The TERP benefit is paid monthly beginning September 1 of the enrollment year That's on top of all the other benifits, in Green Bay it's 33% all right out of the taxpayers pocket and the roads and sewers are broken.
All this video addresses is that people who are upset use inflammatory language. Guess what? Apparently Democrats and Republicans who are mad say a lot of the same things, however we have to live together at the end of the day.
A more useful approach would be to try to prove intellectually that the protesters are *wrong* for being upset.
The last time the GOPlutocracy was in power we had a trillion-$ war based on lies, the Great Recession, and a House Majority Leader named Tom DeLay who is now where he belongs, in prison. The Republican Party is a disaster for America and serves only the interests of the top 1%. The current House has already launched wars on both women and the Middle Class. Keep these dirty Plutocrats out of power!
The Republican Party consists of Fat Cats who skillfully manipulate racists (51% of Republicans now say they are birthers) and religious fanatics. It is time to end the GOPlutocracy and strengthen the Middle Class. Remember what happens when Republicans are in control: a war based on lies and the biggest financial catastrophe since the Great Depression. Don't support the party of Nixon, W, Sarah Palin, and Scottie Walker.
The middle class you speak of is almost entirely conservative, except for most union members
EVERY democrat, except Feingold, voted to go to war with Iraq. If it was a lie, then weren't they liars too? And what WAS the lie exactly? You don't know because you are an ignorant douche
The millions of high risk loans dictated by DEMS had nothing to do with the economy crashing either, huh?
Do you contest those numbers? Provide you own on this issue, or provide a better interpretation of them. Your insults do nothing to me and harm your own credibility.
@cactuschris2002 Exactly, the democrats need to put all their efforts into getting a recall on the 8 republican State congressmen who are eligible and then once it becomes January 23 2012 start the recall on Scott Walker.
Seeing as, at the most conservative estimate, 52% of my State opposes Walker that shouldn't be hard.
When the dems were in charge and rammed through their policies, jacked up taxes and fees, raided funds and borrowed recklessly for their budgets, and never addressed the real problems, they were somehow NOT polarizing?
The conservative wave that is going on now is a reaction to the actions of the dems over the last 8 years. People see what they have done and won't take it anymore
We are polarized, and we need to be right now or we will not be able to do what needs to be done to fix things
On January 17, 1962. John Kennedy signed the law with public labor unions. This took place obviously after FDR. I don't know when Americans began trusting politicians, banks, and the media. All are flawed. The more this country is polarized, the more we are distracted, and not paying attention to whats going on.
Please, could we set aside the bullshit on both sides (not permanently, don't worry), and sit down, discuss actual constructive ways to deal with the problems we face, and get our nation back on it's feet, instead of pointing fingers at each other? After we've got that finished, we can get back to fighting each other, like we've been doing for 250 years.
@C0L0NELM0RTIMER Referring to UNION CRIME BOSSES is indeed an insult...it is also a FACT.
LABOR UNIONS in the United States are solely owned and operated by ORGANIZED CRIME.
UNION DUES are the profits skimmed from paychecks by UNION MOBSTERS.
DEMONCRATS are the POWER BROKERS who are helping ORGANIZED CRIME STEAL AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS. OBAMA is using UNION CRIME FAMILIES , COMMUNIST IDEALS and RADICAL ISLAMIST nations to destroy America.
@AztlanPrincess Quote: So..., you're saying "if corporations get to steal from American, then we should let Unions steal too"
In some sense yes, because they both have opposite aims. If one gets to steal, than the other must as well, or pretty soon one will kill off the other and then they will be alone, in power, and free to steal with impunity.
Let's get rid of both, No? Make too much sense?
Less demagoguery and more rhetoric please. Your stuff is neither challenging nor very interesting.
@AztlanPrincess I'm bored with this, you're right-wing droning uses a lot of words but doesn't say anything useful I seriously have better things to do. I'll be back later. Go watch Fox "News" or something.
@AztlanPrincess Flagged as spam? Aww that's not fair. I don't think we should stop government spending. How in the world would we be able to finish all the important work that George Bush II started, killing all the Moslem Extremists, and so forth, if we stop government spending? Wars cost money and the corporations have so many awesome weapons for us to buy. The Moslem hordes would be all over us. Lets go after children, the elderly, and sick people instead. They can't fight back.
I've lived in Norway, England and the U.S., and there is a HUGE difference between the TRADE UNIONs in Europe and the LABOR UNIONS in the United States.
European trade Unions: 1. ruled by trades people. 2. improve/insure professional standards. 3. earn more by maintaining high public trust in the trade.
American Labor Unions: 1. run by organized crime bosses. 2. degrade/destroy the quality/pride of the trades people. 3. erode public faith in the trade, while demanding higher pay.
@AztlanPrincess Trade associations here do much of what you're talking about. Unions are a different species. While they certainly have their faults, I shudder to think what would happen without them. There are criminals wherever there is money and the corporations have more than their fair share of both as well. I say forbid both of them from making contributions to candidates, lobbying groups, etc. Get them both out of the political process, and let individual people have their voices again.
@AztlanPrincess Of the top 140 campaign contribution heavy hitters on OpenSecrets*org, 104 are corporations and trade associations. They contribute to candidates ~ 44%D, 56%R. The other 36 are Labor Unions and PACs who contribute ~ 91%D, 9%R. Corporations and TAs account for ~86% of the total donations, but Democrats still get 60% of the money overall. Corporations like to make sure they have friends in government. Unions are a way for the working class to invest in their "for sale" government.
@AztlanPrincess Do the math yourself, the data are right there. I found it very illuminating. Corporate money ratios probably are at or near saturation point. They are not going to move a lot either way, at least not quickly. Destroying the unions might be the most cost-effective method of reducing Democratic campaign money, but it also carries a fairly severe risk for the right wing, and Walker didn't count on the Democrats keeping it in the spotlight this long. The tide is turning.
@C0L0NELM0RTIMER I think Americans are viewing Unions/Democrats/Obama/Mobsters as ATTACKING the capital in Wisconsin. Americans see daily images of Republicans patiently, faithfully doing their jobs in the capital, while Democrats RUN/HIDE like criminals on the lamb. The news coverage leaves me feeling that a bunch of OVERPAID, SPOILED, GREEDY UNIONIZED PUBLIC EMPLOYEES are ABANDONING THEIR JOBS so they can ATTACK THE AVERAGE AMERICAN AND EXTORT MORE MONEY FOR THE CRIME BOSSES WHO RUN UNIONS!
(a little more) It's also no surprise to see Obama immediately characterize these events as an attempt to hurt unions. He has a history of commenting on matters not within his ken. He repeatedly and consistently antagonizes instead of remaining neutral. In this situation,it would be entirely expected that the unions,so generous in their Democratic support, will enjoy Democratic support over taxpayer interests. They have and I hope it will be resisted. We are sick of the hate politics.
(more) It startles and upsets liberal idealogues to discover that collective bargaining is NOT a constitutionally recognized right. It is an activity enjoyed only when the contracting parties meet at the table equally empowered. The civil servants have their union;the employer, the people, have......who?The state legislature, the courts, and the governor.Walker is acting entirely correctly within his mandate to establish equity and enforce it. It's no surprise to see the mice scurrying away. (more)
@meemoonses quote: "the people, have......who?The state legislature, the courts, and the governor.Walker is acting entirely correctly within his mandate" I agree with you in part, they are who represent the people, but Walker is not acting entirely correctly, and he no longer has a mandate on this issue, his role is to negotiate on behalf of ALL the people. The majority do not favor his actions. See the 3/3/11 Rasmussen poll. He should hear the voice of the people and come to the bargaining table.
So Walker does what needs to be done - he limits the ability of the unions to hold each and every card in negotiating with individual school districts.
Even with this, the individual districts still need to have the stones to say NO to the union's demands. They will at least have that as an option
The alternative would be to rely on the generosity of the unions to compromise for the good of the taxpayers
@Pondo1221 The union apologists will always couch these events in "class" terms, ie, "worker vs. employer".A fallacious comparison. An employer can negotiate, submit to arbitration,or close it's doors. A civil entity cannot. We can't close our schools, fire depts,or police depts. We can't shut off the water or stop picking up trash. What possible balancing power can the taxpayer have other than the legislative or in some cases, the executive? Taxpayer money is NOT a prize to be fought over. (more)
@meemoonses Quote: "Taxpayer money is NOT a prize to be fought over" Why don't the republicans say that to your corporate masters? You guys are blind to your own hypocrisy. The taxpayer is just as much on the hook from corporations, with the tax breaks they get from their republican lapdogs. We say get both unions and corporations out of the political process. That makes more sense. But of course that make too much sense. How would you feel if we tried to kill corporations?
@C0L0NELM0RTIMER My "corporate masters"? Flatulance. Since you didn't offer any refuting argument,I can consider my arguments as being accepted but not agreed with.
@meemoonses You also have a history of commenting on matters not within your ken. Politics and Economics clearly escape you. You, of course are free to consider as you choose, but in this case your consideration is false. I didn't see any arguments. What were you referring to?
@meemoonses My argument is this: I won't deny that Unions, unfettered by regulation, can be just as dangerous to our political process as corporations, but I will support them because they are the counter-weight to the influence of unfettered corporations. If you republcans would like remove both, I would join you in the effort, but if you only want to kill unions, I will oppose you. Now, which of us is extreme, and which is moderate?
@C0L0NELM0RTIMER "I will support them(unions) because they are the counter-weight to the influence of unfettered corporations"
So..., you're saying "if corporations get to steal from American, then we should let Unions steal too"
So..., in the end, non-union, non-corporate Americans are getting RAPED from THREE sides! RAPED BY UNIONS and RAPED BY CORPORATIONS and RAPED by GOVERNMENT!
THE VOTING POWER OF THE AVERAGE AMERICAN = THE MOST POWERFUL GROUP IN AMERICA.
@C0L0NELM0RTIMER I will leave you with your 150, "genius" level IQ. I've heard enough. Perhaps you can convince someone oher than yourself you have any idea of what you are talking about. You certainly don't know anything about me.Lacking supporting argument, you simply discount as worthless any opinion not yours. Useless.I've said my piece.Others can read these words, see that you lied pathetically about your IQ,and see the truth. You are a liberal and have no intention of facing reality.

The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. most of the examples of violent rhetoric were not examples of violent rhetoric. calling someone a dictator or comparing them to hitler is not violent. it's not a particularly effective way of making one's specific objections to policy heard, but also not viiolent.

Americans are standing up to Republican fascism and exploitation. And in the fight between Americans and Republicans , I am on the side of Americans.
beesleeper 9 months ago
@beesleeper They are one and the same. You seem to be completely ignorant of what fascism really is and the type of government that it requires. Fascism requires an all powerful centralized government - one that can control wages, production and profits - sort of like you liberals want. Conservatives want a SMALLER government precisely because we don't want fascism.
ToddAldrich 9 months ago
@beesleeper Democrats are the fascists: Anti-Jewish, anti-Christian, pro-abortion, pro-Sharia. Democrats are not on the side of America, but on the side of Mexico, France, CAIR, and Castro.

It's a clump of tissue.

StoogeWatcher 8 months ago
@beesleeper No, Beesleeper, LIBERAL historians and psuedo-thinkers think Fascism is a product of the right.
They wish to hide the vast Chasm that distinguishes the two philosophies and play up similarities that are NOT really tenets of the right but are in fact merely characteristics of all despots both right and left. Meanwhile the simultaneously ignore the massive number of similarities between the left wing ideologies of today and play up the very few dissimilarities.

THEINVENTABLETHREAT 10 months ago
@THEINVENTABLETHREAT Um, smaller government is the OPPOSITE of fascism you moron.
ToddAldrich 10 months ago
@ToddAldrich Smaller government? Scott Walker is making it his sole duty to tell people that they cannot bargain. That's called big brother and huge government. He hasn't scaled down government he is making government more powerful over the people. This is Walker dictating economics in a free capitalist society workers can collectively bargain, if they get fired, well they get fired. But you can't "dictate" how people bargain because any official has no say in economics- free market.
THEINVENTABLETHREAT 9 months ago
@THEINVENTABLETHREAT Um, those workers are part of the government. There is not free market when you are working for the government - there is no competition.
If you want a free market - let Walker privatize your job.
If you are a teacher, you sure as hell shouldn't be with that level of ignorance.
ToddAldrich 9 months ago
@ToddAldrich Um, it's not that Walker is going to privatize government work, which actually costs more money. He's going to have government workers. The false notion that privatizing government work saves money is a dream, not coherent with any facts. He wants to stop workers from organizing...Oh unless they supported his run for governor- that's not big gov. You made the claim that the government workers were being denied free market rights - when the free market has NOTHING to do with government workers - there is no competition.
ToddAldrich 9 months ago
@ToddAldrich So government workers shouldn't have rights? The reason why we are in this much debt in the first place is because of government privatizing. The war in Iraq, Medicare, and defense contracts are the reason why we are in debt and you want more of the same?

ToddAldrich 9 months ago
@THEINVENTABLETHREAT You also seemed to think i was commenting on the virtues of privatization. While I might do that, the only reason it was brought up was to clue you in on how the free market would apply to government workers - it wouldn't unless they were no longer government workers and were privatized.
The Teacher reference was ONLY to you - I was stating that if YOU are that ignorant of what the free market is, you should not be a teacher, because your ignorance is astounding.

Public Unions should not have collective bargaining with taxpayer money . That is all Gov Walker is saying.
Personally I believe he is correct. Gov Walker is protecting the taxpayer from the unions who will take everything that is not nailed down.
daleflix 11 months ago
@daleflix Unions who will take everything that is not nailed down? That's good. Have you ever heard of 'hedge funds' or 'investment banks'? The reason we're fighting each other over the scraps is that they put the middle class out of work, crashed the real estate market, and took our $3 trillion dollars. The Unions offer concessions, the investment bankers offer denials, and also keep the money. Fight the real enemy.
pollclaire 11 months ago
@pollclaire
#1) Public servants who are not elected should not have the right to take from the taxpayer monies they cannot be held accountable for not earning.
#2) Gov Walker is the voice of the taxpayer voter, who up till now were suppressed by union lies.
#3) The gaining back of monies for only one specific sector of the population ie. public unions, does not get all taxpayers even.
#4) The Public Service Unions are servants to the Democrat Party. The same party who caused the crash!
daleflix 11 months ago
@daleflix Dale, I don't for a minute think that either party 'caused the crash'. Pretty sure it was Citi, Bank of America, and Deutsche Bank, and they definitely have no political affiliation. If you're implying that Democrat policies led to the crash, I'll just say that the by the Bush presidency, most loans were not even subject to the Community Reinvestment Act. The decision to lend to sub-prime borrowers pure moral hazard taken on by lenders chasing high interest rate loans.
pollclaire 11 months ago
@pollclaire
Your opinion notwithstanding, the public service unions are direct supporters of the Democrat Party and therefor have an unfair lobby in what policies get implemented. This must be stopped !
daleflix 11 months ago
@daleflix Public unions gave 500k to statewide candidates across about 110 statewide elections, but corporations outspent them 20 to 1. Who has an unfair lobby? Corporations got 150 million in tax credits, so apparently it worked.
pollclaire 11 months ago

What don't you understand about this? A taxpayer is paying a union to give money to a political party. The taxpayer has no say about this and is in fact told to give more whether they like it or not.

3-Surprise! The people who wouldn't have gotten loans in the first place defaulted on them and the economy fell
Pondo1221 11 months ago
@Pondo1221 CRA was an after-the-fact review process with no civil penalties attached, not a mandate. CRA had no authority to force lenders go sub-prime, that happened for reasons that you've partially covered. By the 2000s, most (3/4) loans were not reviewed by CRA. To start, read 'The Big Short' by Michael Lewis. He never uses 'Democrat' of 'Republican' anywhere in the book, because it's just not relevant. The industry was miles ahead of govt policy.
pollclaire 11 months ago
@pollclaire
Pondo1221 11 months ago
@Pondo1221 Yes, FM&FM secuitized loans, but at what point would you say the due diligence falls on the originator? Nobody forced them to write subprimes in the market percentage that they did. They did it because it was profitable to write high interest loans, pure free market motives. This is a case of Barney Frank, GW Bush, and the Fed skipping off arm-in-arm down the yellow brick road. If you want me to blame any one of them more than the others, then I pick...um...the Fed.
pollclaire 11 months ago
@pollclaire False. 2007, Bernanke`s words. "CRA reaffirmed the long-standing principle that financial institutions must serve the needs, including credit needs, of the communities. The obligation of financial institutions to serve their communities was seen as a quid pro quo for privileges such as the protection afforded by federal deposit insurance and access to the Federal Reserve's discount window ." In other words, make crap loans or no Fed credit, FDIC insurance! Want the URL??

pollclaire 11 months ago
@pollclaire WE agree, if you are blaming the Fed. Because without loose monetary policy, there wouldnt have been a housing bubble. Without the excessive increase in housing values, there wouldnt have been the excessive crash, which made foreclosure a joke, as homes were worth so little, compared to mortgaghes. However, panics and crashes are NOT new, and wild, speculative behavior is part of a bubble. Wall Street erred, but so did every refinancing homeowner, who overextended himself.
luvcheney1 11 months ago
@luvcheney1 The run-up in housing prices was about the only thing fueling economic growth in the mid-2000s. I became critical of Fed policy in about '05, as economists started to talk about a real-estate bubble, but I know lots of friends, even consultants and financial people, who weren't worried. Pulled my money out of the market in summer of '08 when Indy Mac went under, bought back in at 7000. $ca-CHING$.
pollclaire 11 months ago
@luvcheney1 The industry was miles ahead of govt policy. The volume of sub-prime that these guys wrote made the CRA irrelevant.

What happens to a business if they can't keep up with their demands?
buchedda 1 year ago
Guess what?! conservatives have flaws and liberals have flaws! There you go, happy. There is no one party that does not benefit from the other, and the quality of progress would go down if the other side doesn't exist. This is who we are, people who have opinions and express them, whether with ignorance are righteousness. This is what makes us who we are. What doesn't make us who we are now is unions because they pose a threat to middle class workers and the welfare of businesses.

Democrats and the public sector unions are the real Nazis.
God bless Governor Scott Walker and the Republicans.
What part of $14 TRILLION don't you left-wing lunatics don't you understand?
Nazi is short for National Socialism, by the way.
AcePilot101 1 year ago

Keep these dirty Plutocrats out of power!
sutircomed 1 year ago
The Republican Party consists of Fat Cats who skillfully manipulate racists (51% of Republicans now say they are birthers) and religious fanatics. It is time to end the GOPlutocracy and strengthen the Middle Class. Remember what happens when Republicans are in control: a war based on lies and the biggest financial catastrophe since the Great Depression. Don't support the party of Nixon, W, Sarah Palin, and Scottie Walker.

Holy crap are you ignorant
And a douche
You spout your lies and know nothing about them
The middle class you speak of is almost entirely conservative, except for most union members

Pondo1221 1 year ago

AztlanPrincess 1 year ago
@AztlanPrincess Quote: So..., you're saying "if corporations get to steal from American, then we should let Unions steal too"
In some sense yes, because they both have opposite aims. If one gets to steal, than the other must as well, or pretty soon one will kill off the other and then they will be alone, in power, and free to steal with impunity.
Let's get rid of both, No? Make too much sense?

ORGANIZED CRIME is using LABOR UNIONS to EXTORT MONEY FROM AMERICA!
LABOR UNIONS = MOB WEAPON/ MOB GUN
LABOR UNIONS = MAFIA RUN/ MAFIA OWNED.
LABOR UNIONS = SHAKING DOWN AMERICA.
LABOR UNIONS = THREAT TO NATIONAL SECURITY.
LABOR UNIONS = #1 TERRORIST THREAT
AztlanPrincess 1 year ago
I've lived in Norway, England and the U.S., and there is a HUGE difference between the TRADE UNIONs in Europe and the LABOR UNIONS in the United States.
European trade Unions: 1. ruled by trades people. 2. improve/insure professional standards. 3. earn more by maintaining high public trust in the trade.
American Labor Unions: 1. run by organized crime bosses. 2. degrade/destroy the quality/pride of the trades people. 3. erode public faith in the trade, while demanding higher pay.
AztlanPrincess 1 year ago
@AztlanPrincess Trade associations here do much of what you're talking about. Unions are a different species. While they certainly have their faults, I shudder to think what would happen without them. There are criminals wherever there is money and the corporations have more than their fair share of both as well. I say forbid both of them from making contributions to candidates, lobbying groups, etc. Get them both out of the political process, and let individual people have their voices again.
C0L0NELM0RTIMER 1 year ago
@AztlanPrincess Of the top 140 campaign contribution heavy hitters on OpenSecrets*org, 104 are corporations and trade associations. They contribute to candidates ~ 44%D, 56%R. The other 36 are Labor Unions and PACs who contribute ~ 91%D, 9%R. Corporations and TAs account for ~86% of the total donations, but Democrats still get 60% of the money overall. Corporations like to make sure they have friends in government. Unions are a way for the working class to invest in their "for sale" government.
C0L0NELM0RTIMER 1 year ago
@AztlanPrincess Do the math yourself, the data are right there. I found it very illuminating. Corporate money ratios probably are at or near saturation point. They are not going to move a lot either way, at least not quickly. Destroying the unions might be the most cost-effective method of reducing Democratic campaign money, but it also carries a fairly severe risk for the right wing, and Walker didn't count on the Democrats keeping it in the spotlight this long. The tide is turning.
C0L0NELM0RTIMER 1 year ago

We are sick of the hate politics.
meemoonses 1 year ago
(more) It startles and upsets liberal idealogues to discover that collective bargaining is NOT a constitutionally recognized right. It is an activity enjoyed only when the contracting parties meet at the table equally empowered. The civil servants have their union;the employer, the people, have......who?The state legislature, the courts, and the governor.Walker is acting entirely correctly within his mandate to establish equity and enforce it. It's no surprise to see the mice scurrying away. (more)
meemoonses 1 year ago
@meemoonses quote: "the people, have......who?The state legislature, the courts, and the governor.Walker is acting entirely correctly within his mandate" I agree with you in part, they are who represent the people, but Walker is not acting entirely correctly, and he no longer has a mandate on this issue, his role is to negotiate on behalf of ALL the people. The majority do not favor his actions. See the 3/3/11 Rasmussen poll. He should hear the voice of the people and come to the bargaining table.
C0L0NELM0RTIMER 1 year ago
So Walker does what needs to be done - he limits the ability of the unions to hold each and every card in negotiating with individual school districts.
Even with this, the individual districts still need to have the stones to say NO to the union's demands. They will at least have that as an option
The alternative would be to rely on the generosity of the unions to compromise for the good of the taxpayers
History shows that they DO NOT compromise
Walker is on the right side of this issue
Pondo1221 1 year ago
@Pondo1221 The union apologists will always couch these events in "class" terms, ie, "worker vs. employer".A fallacious comparison. An employer can negotiate, submit to arbitration,or close it's doors. A civil entity cannot. We can't close our schools, fire depts,or police depts. We can't shut off the water or stop picking up trash. What possible balancing power can the taxpayer have other than the legislative or in some cases, the executive? Taxpayer money is NOT a prize to be fought over. (more)
meemoonses 1 year ago
@meemoonses Quote: "Taxpayer money is NOT a prize to be fought over" Why don't the republicans say that to your corporate masters? You guys are blind to your own hypocrisy. The taxpayer is just as much on the hook from corporations, with the tax breaks they get from their republican lapdogs. We say get both unions and corporations out of the political process. That makes more sense. But of course that make too much sense. How would you feel if we tried to kill corporations?
C0L0NELM0RTIMER 1 year ago
@C0L0NELM0RTIMER My "corporate masters"? Flatulance. Since you didn't offer any refuting argument,I can consider my arguments as being accepted but not agreed with.

@meemoonses You also have a history of commenting on matters not within your ken. Politics and Economics clearly escape you. You, of course are free to consider as you choose, but in this case your consideration is false. I didn't see any arguments. What were you referring to?
C0L0NELM0RTIMER 1 year ago
@meemoonses My argument is this: I won't deny that Unions, unfettered by regulation, can be just as dangerous to our political process as corporations, but I will support them because they are the counter-weight to the influence of unfettered corporations. If you republcans would like remove both, I would join you in the effort, but if you only want to kill unions, I will oppose you. Now, which of us is extreme, and which is moderate?
C0L0NELM0RTIMER 1 year ago
