As I said in a previous comment. This is a legally owned, ATF registered short barreled shotgun. The gun was cut down by a class three manufacturer and I paid for the ATF tax stamp and have all the required paperwork.
It's legal to own and shoot these guns as long as all state and federal laws are adhered to. This video contains nothing illegal and the gun was legally shot on private property.
@eRepair It seems like you deleted my comment so I don't remember what was said, however I'm pretty sure I was talking to KUSHandEVERCLEAR on him being a idiot for having a unregistered SBS.
I realize the weapon in this video is totally legal (in like 35 states IIRC), I plan on getting one in 20ga someday.
It's a registered NFA weapon and 100% legal. I bought it years ago for a couple hundred bucks, they are still readily available but the prices are quite a bit higher now.
@FranciscoSRO2 Yes and No. A regular gunsmith cannot legally cut the barrel of a shotgun below 18". A gunsmith who is also a class 3 manufacturer CAN legally cut the barrel to any length desired. However, the firearm must be registered with the ATF. Not registering the gun before it's modified can/will result in a 10 year prison sentence.
Two reasons, first the recoil causes the trigger guard to cut the inside of the shooters finger. Secondly, just before he shot the shotgun, he shot a submachine gun which spews oil and soot like crazy. He was wearing my leather dirt bike riding gloves.
i have a FIE boito just like yours but with 18'' barrels. but what i need is to know where the hell can i get a stock fdor mine as mine broke a few years back and i need a new one but cant find one anywhere!!! not at gun stores, gunshowes online any where!!! please help?
Actually, if you do it the right way (pay the tax stamp) you can own pretty much any gun you want too. I own a REM 870WP (Witness Protection) that has a 12inch barrel but I paid the extra tax so it's a LEGALLY owned sawed off shotgun. It even has a screw in choke.
I have a sawed-off 12 gauge shotgun, single shot, 10 inches barrel... and the pellets grouping is still very small. No HUGE spread as people think. Maybe with a 4" barrel.
I realize it's not a toy, but the conventional wisdom is that a good defensive round needs to have the capability to penetrate 12" into a soft target. The 45lc is a great defensive round, but the 2 1/2" .410 is not something I would trust my life to.
NO being able to penetrate 12'' is to much a good defensive gun in 5 to 6'' being able to prevent 12'' soft targets can mean going through 4 inches of drywall and hit a friendly in the other room where 5 to 6'' soft target wont have enough momentum to hurt a friendly in the next room but still have enough power to knock someone down.
It's a Brazilian made FIE called a Boito. The gun was cut down, years ago, by a Class 3 manufacturer called Anne Arundel Firearms. Receiver is stamped A.A.
There was a bit of kick there, plus you don't know what kind of load he's shooting. While it could be a target load (very manageable recoil), you'd want to use buckshot for HD applications (relatively high recoil)
The gun is loaded with low brass ammunition. Which at close range is more than enough for anything imaginable. A high brass buckshoot shell is overkill.
True- at close range (i.e., small-caliber handgun distances) the shot wouldn't have enough time to spread very widely. It'd be a lot like getting hit with a slug I suppose.
I would be interested in seeing the patterns you get at close-in ranges (i.e., point-blank up to say 20').
I've found that the pattern is not significantly different from a standard length shotgun. There are a few more pellets in the outer fringe areas but nothing significant.
Speaking of shot patterns, I once accidentally loaded a buckshot shell into a rifled 12 gauge slug gun. I was shocked at what happened. At 25 feet the shot pattern was more than 6 feet wide and high.

After so many videos of folks injuring themselves with recoil, it was a relief to see this guy do it right.

Nice to see this. I was always under the impression sawed-off's had ridiculous recoil but this looks manageable.

True about the load. Didn't consider that.
