I wonder if you, good people, could shed a little light upon the notion that Mark based most of his stories on Homer's Odyssey and Iliad as claimed in "The Homeric Epics and the Gospel of Mark" by Dennis R. MacDonald and brilliantly made into videos by user/TruthSurge here on YouTube? (Staring from "Excavating The Empty Tomb (beyond a reasonable doubt) PART 1")
To me it sounds to be a very credible that it is just so.
really enjoyed that. balanced. the discrepancies and outright contradictions (which number in the 100's minimum) were not glossed over or avoided or ignored. would be great if you could do one the same length on the gospel of ?peter, the recently found apocryphal one, and compare it. and date it in timeline of existing gospels. also, the did double donkey one fail to mention that in another gospel its one ass? as usual, thanks guys for the good vid
Pretty poor that even in what we would like to call an enlightened time we still depict angels in our form. Almost as cringe-worthy as "If English was good enough for Jesus, it’s good enough for Texas schoolchildren”.
Getting yourself in debt and then having someone 'bail you out' sounds like a fast road towards the dissolution of responsibility. Similarly knowing you can act immorally and then heap your acts onto a scapegoat to die and remove your sin, and responsibility for that sin, does too.
@duffry yea yea... but what did u think of the vid, overall? yr making a bit of a strawman here. nobody claimed it was true and u had to believe it. leave that crap in the past, where it belongs, and move with yrself and the times - let us know the updated view u have on it... just sayin (as thay say here)
What is the explanation for the Matthew 1:23 verse which claims that the baby shall be called Emmanuel? Is there any connection between the names Emmanuel & Jesus? Is the explanation of the meaning of the name an addition, placed to get over the fact that he *wasn't* named Emmanuel? It's always seemed like the elephant in the room to me, that verse.
