I was leaning toward Flowmaster's American Thunder Classic until I saw this video. Just ordered the Mac axlebacks from American Muscle. Thanks for posting this video.
Just installed the same system on my 06 Mustang GT b/c of this VERY video. God it sounds awesome!! I couldn't be happier. I may post my own video in a few days.
The shop guys that installed it were really impressed with the sound and kept asking me what brand it was and where I purchased it. Said it was the best sounded Mustang they had heard in a LONG time.
God I love that sound! It reminds me of the 80's when there were Mustang 5.0's all over the place that sounded like this. Those were the good ol' days... For me anyway ;)
wait, the car was completely stock other than the mac mufflers? i've heard these in person on a stock GT and didn't think they were that loud, but they sound sick in this video clip. good shit man.
They will sound good, Im not 100% sure about the Auto/drone issue because I have never experienced riding in an auto before, but In my opinion people blow up how bad the drone is. My guess is the drone may be more apparent then in the auto then 5 spd, but the new sound is well worth it. You will get drone from almost any aftermarket mufflers. The only ones that wont drone will either be too quiet (flows a/t, Frpp GTAs) or absurdly expensive (Corsa). Drone is a part of owninga Mustang that soun-
i love how corsa sounds. n i do not have an s197 yet... but idk watching this video.. maybe ill get some macs, instead. corsas hella expensive too n this sounds great!
Have you added the o/r h or prochamber yet, and if so could you post a video. I would love to here the Mac with o/r prochamber, but can;t seem to find any vids of that setup on here.
The prochamber is in the mail right now. Im putting it on in 2 weeks when I have some time. I am definetely going to make a detailed video showing all angles/rpms. I have heard the setup in person and it is awesome. Videos are impossible to find of this setup, so I want to make sure I make a good one to help people choose a setup.
Thanks, Its just the mac axleback for the 05+ GT. They are the chambered flowpaths to be exact. But on all sites its just listed as Mac axleback for 05+. Check Brenspeed's website. Great customer service.
This video is what convinced me to run the Macs on my 08 GT. I couldn't be happier. I'm sure a few years down the road I will change my midpipe but right now I'm still enjoying the new sound of the Macs!
I love it. It was everything I was looking for. I am also thinking of replacing the mid-pipes. I know a guy who can make custom fit piping, I am looking into three inch piping from front to back. Still thinking about it though. Not sure what I want to do as far as the mid-pipes go. I was considering the O/R Prochamber, H or X pipe. I'm undecided.
ooooo.....dont do the 3" setup if your car is N/A.....even if your boosted you dont need that big of an exhaust. If I were you I would just go with the o/r prochamber. These cars do need backpressure.
Okay, cool. One of my friend was telling me almost the same thing. Not to go too big on the pipes because it could cause drag that I wouldn't want. Thanks for the tip! I'm going to start looking into offroad prochambers. Also, are you thinking of replacing your headers? I'm thinking of American Racing Long-Tubes, JBA or Mac Performance. I'm not sure what way I should go.
Eventually Im going to get LT's but that wont be for a few years. I have been looking at packages and in my opinion the Mac is the best. It comes with Mac LT's and an o/r prochamber....any of the ones you have listed above are good quality. Kooks makes a very nice package with their LT's and high flow catted x.......its pretty expensive though. Search full mac exhaust and you will see a new GT with the Mac LT/Prochamber/a/b's.....thats the video that convinced me to go all Mac.
Yeah, I've seen the full Mac Exhaust video. That one is really nice sounding and I was thinking the same thing. The only thing holding me back from getting that is the look of the headers. To me they don't look like long tubes to me. Maybe it's just me, but the Mac Long tubes look like shorties to me. When you compare the look of JBA or American Racing. They are quite long. The Mac's look very short so I was unsure as to why they're so short when they're called Long tube.
The Fittment is not the greatest but if you take ur car to the local muff shop they shouldnt charge more than 20 bucks to adjust.I have a 07 gt/cs,forgot to mention.
I'm seriously thinking about getting these instead of the Borla S-types. They sound great and the price is right. Have you ever heard the Borlas in person? If so, think you could describe the differences?
The borlas are not chambered and will not give the responsiveness of the macs. They give more of a raw for lack of a better term sloppy sounds. I've heard and wasn't too impressed. I have macs on my 2001. Check my vid. Once paired with an X or prochamber the macs are what a mustang should sound like.

Just like sirgibson33, I bought the mac axlebacks based off of this video. You should get a kickback from Mac for advertising! lol
This system sounds just as good in person as it does in the video. Thanks for posting!

thanks....thats one of the best compliments you can give a mod motored stang driver lol. It has even more of that "5.0" sound with the prochamber.

Awesome sound, seems like the 05+ have that older "muscle" sound, doesn't seem to drone as much as some late models

We hit a home run! My wife loves the way the car sounds and now a prochamber is the next step.

I love the prochamber. My favorite mod by far. It wont sound as "clean", but it has that deep V8 rumble, and screams at wot.

Wicked stang. A black GT with bullitt rims and macs in the back=awesome.

ds good. I added an o/r prochamber and its 100000X more badass. The drone got worse, but I can live with some drone for that perfect sound. ;)

macs do a decent job of making the 3v sound good. Not as good as the 2 and 4 Vs though!
Johnny5liter 4 years ago
Oh yeah the new 3Vs will never sound 1/2 as good as the 2 or 4V's do
mynameismike65 4 years ago
Maybe, but no modular sounds as good as the 5.0. (owner of a 08' GT/CS and a 94' 5.0)
