    Well, he couldn't play in the boring manner of all who preceeded him. I would say only Art Tatum anticipated Monk's startling jazz harmonies. Monk is rightfully now recognized as one of the 4 or 5 original innovators of be-bop, aka 'modern jazz'.

  • @bbrannddX Critics should be only for pop music. First they must have the ability to listen, then they can judge.I heard an interview where someone asked him what was his opinion of country music. The answer : "The guys are hard of hearing". ahah enough of that sh*t lets enjoy the mastermind!
