i like the dual commentary, flows perfectly but i'd like to hear different ideas from two advanced players you know? to broaden my ideas, but great video. i played this opening the other day and got into time trouble, funny thing happened though, after imputting my moves into my program the computer said it could not see any way to improve my material or positional circumstances! i have chess master 10th, is Qxg3 mate? But my program still sees a win for black from this position.
These are the brilliant games that keep me playing and watching your vids KC! Wow! What an amazing game....And yes, you have to wonder, just how deep was Najdorf able to see into this game after ...Bh2+??? I'll bet the view was magical!
its pretty impressing... not really thinking about during the video, i suddenly realized that black sacrificed all of his minor pieces during this game!
@kniki3 For one, I didn't thumbs down your comment... It was thumbed down before. I thumbed it up because I didn't particularly find any problem with your comment other than the fact that there were mating threats. Someone else thumbed it down again, apparently. Also, there was no trouble in disproving your comment whatsoever so all I can say is, way to waste your time.
@kniki3 So, your reason for mentioning the thumbs down was? Also, I happen to have an 1800+ USCF rating therefore, making me a class A player, disproving your "anybody who knows anything about chess and really paid attention..." remark. Also, your receiving of morbid pleasure from time wasting is quite disgusting.
Please don't stop making your videos, really... They are really good. Not only you show some very nice games, you also explain them in a way that makes me realize the brilliancy of some moves. Seriously, don't stop making them until you just run out of ideas :P.
Nxe6 is simply a bad move. White's kingside is critical and taking on e6 opens the d1-h4 diagonal allowing Qh4 threatening Bg3 with checkmate soon following. The only defence against checkmate is Ng5 which gives away a piece and white should simply resign here.
Luv'd the dual comment :) and luv'd that you chose the polish immortal :D one of my fav games, played by a fellow countryman (well..half :P hes half argentinean)
Constant arguments arise, some foolish geezers saying "he just got lucky" as if it was a flashy 5 minute blitz sacrificing combo. I think he saw pretty much everything, and what he didnt see, he felt it somehow.
At some point u said Qxg3 mates and its not, actually its fxg3 that mates in 3. Thats fine, its a K-side mess anyway!
You guys are wrong at 8.56 by the way. Imagine it was blacks to move in that position, your suggested Qxg3 would lead to an almost equal position after Ke2, I'd not give black a bigger advantage than say 1-1.5 pawn-values. Instead, the correct move is Ne5 mate even though for instance fxg3 leads to mate as well, but that's a mate in 4.
I thought the variation of Bg4 would be irrelevant for it used the same idea to mate as Ne5 which is why I didn't include it.
Interestingly I gave Fritz8 a look at the position and it noted 20. ...c5 was actually a mate in 8 (128MB hash, 39303 kN, approx 1.5 minute analysed) with [FEN "r1b2rk1/pp4pp/2p3n1/3p2N1/2P2p2/3BPKP1/PP5q/R1BQ1RN1 b - - 0 19"]
was the trojan horse named for the defenders or the attackers. the greek gift was a bishop in this match, so I'm wondering if a greek gift the same as a trojan horse?
Those are the words of virgil in the Aeneid. its in greek. it's usually roughly translated as "beware of greek gifts", that is the very title for this video coming from those immortal words :)
i dont know why people are so missing the point by always bringing up the overview and summery.. perhaps they are under arround 10 or 15 minutes time constraints , we are simply hounored to have the additition of Kosten and his extra prospective to any video which far outweighs the measly overview and summery. you don`t even get that from other videos , u guys are lucky perhaps that kingscrusher does that in his videos !but it is not really needed if you are an avarage chess player..

@moonlightgarden12am well, there were mate threats, just that they were able to be defended.

at 4:35 instead of defending that knight wouldent white have a better move by forking the queen and castle by taking on E6.
white would get a pawn and castle for the knight?

Yes it would have staved off mate, but Rybka indicates a near +5 advantage to black after Ke3 Bxd1 Kxd1 Qxg3+ Kd4 Nxf4
r4rk1/pp4pp/2p5/3p2N1/2PK1n2/3B2q1/PP6/R1BR2N1 w - - 0 24
White's pieces are really uncoordinated, the the king exposed. Black is going to easily win more material from this position.
kingscrusher 3 years ago
Still seems pretty strange. On hand you have a mate in two, on the other you have a very bad position to defend.
Why not make him prove it? Or just resign after the check?

Your quite right - important to consider those escape squares. Say white played an irrelevant move then clearest wins are:
Glucksberg - Miguel Najdorf, Warsaw 1929
r1b2rk1/pp4pp/2p3n1/3p2N1/2P2p2/P2BPKP1/1P5q/R1BQ1RN1 b - - 0 1
Analysis by Rybka 2.3.2a mp 32-bit :
1. -+ (-#1): 20...Ne5#
2. -+ (-#2): 20...Bg4+ 21.Kxg4 Ne5#
3. -+ (-#4): 20...fxg3+ 21.Nf7 Rxf7+ 22.Bf5 Rxf5+ 23.Kg4 Ne5#
4. -+ (-5.90): 20...c5 21.exf4 Bg4+ 22.Ke3 Rae8+ 23.Be4 Bxd1 24.Rxd1 Qxg3+ 25.Kd2 dxe4

it was an interesting game but is this really the immortal game? wikipedia has a completely different game labeled as the immortal game.
IRONSTOVE 3 years ago
in chess, we often call a player's most
brilliant game his/her "immortal game."
we're not talking about the famous immortal
or evergreen games of anderssen.
in this video, the immortal reference was
used to indicate that anyone can
have a brilliant game "with a little bit
of help" by using the thematic bishop
sac (greek gift).
macnolds 3 years ago
No, this is not the Immortal game, listen closely, they said it was Najdorf's Immortal game.
