The main reason why London is the financial capital is it's position in the world. The regular office hours in London, mean there are periods where they can trade with China and Japan, aswell as periods in the day where they can trade with New York and Chicago. And of course, they can trade with Europe. That's why Amsterdam and Hamburg are also such significant cities financially.

I thought that too...then I checked out the Infinity tower thread on skyscraper city...It took them 2 years of faffing about with an empty lot before the first floor rose.

Other large schemes are similar.
