this is not pure wadoryu! the khion are of wado-style but the masters that practise them are of other schools of karate. I'm sure of this because I practice wadoryu since 18 years
He looks so goddamn scared in the first part of the vid. I would of said hey kid I,m going to make it easy on you and just bash your face bloody them I,m going to send you home.
I practiced different styles of karate(20 years) but believe me this one is more natural and more fluid !! I 've then devloped my own style(8 years) which is a mixed of taichi+systema+wrestling+karaté+wing chung
not bad, but i hate if thers too much kumite in a karate style. this parctise is certainly unlikely to happen in real life, you should practise with full contact, no offence.
the idea is to develop timing,speed and distancing in a controlled environment.once you learn it here it is easier to apply in a free sparring situation or self defence.

I did wado ryu in holland when I was a kid! It is nog really populair here so gaining state championship was pretty easy
