  • This is mind blowing! Fantastic!

  • Um gênio, maravilhoso.

  • Stravinsky is reported to have remarked that Vivaldi composed over 400 violin works and that

they all sounded the same, a dismissive comment from a composer whose limitations are cruelly exposed as atonal, without melodic components, comparatively lacking in the very elements he criticices in Vivaldi whose genius is being discovered by music lovers every day.

  • @cavatina36 Everyone is allowed to have an opinion.

At least Stravinsky composed music, and is famous throughout the world. How about you? Did you compose music? Are you famous for your works around the world? If your answer is no, please don't dare to criticize composers.

  • FOR THOSE WHO KNOW, Please can you recommend me your best ever personal favourites from this kind of music. I know nothing about this music but it seems to creep into my soul & sends my thoughts on a journey of fantasy & adventure. Is this supposed to happen? I feel like writing poetry. lol. Please help, i'll be eternally grateful. Thank you.

  • Beautiful. Thank you for much for sharing.

  • I cannot stop headbanging during the 1st movement!

  • 8 8008

  • good

  • its not concerto grosse its a violin concerto from op. 3 lestro armonico

  • @BaroqueBastard

The concerto is for two violins and cello, which is the traditional concerto grosso scoring. It could still be considered a concerto grosso.

  • I like very much these small Vivaldi’s concerts.

  • (Vivaldi- Feelings) ( Bach - Piano Einstein ) ( Mozart - Genius ) ( Beethoven- Emotions) ( Schubert - Form ) ( Purcell- Royal ) Thumbs up if you Agree.

  • @pasmoressj2 I would just add Bach-Uber-Transcendental genius to the piano comment.(>;

  • @paqman67 hahaha

  • Honestly I don't listen to this genre of music however I just reaserached ot for my homework and I have to say - I like it!

  • This is awesome

  • One of Vivaldi's best. I think it was Stravinsky who claimed that Vivaldi did not write 600 concerto's but one concerto 600 times. Even though Vivaldi is my favourite composer, I feel that a lot of his concerto's are bland. My three favourites, that have real drive, originality and power are: RV578, RV565 and RV580. Interestingly all in minor keys.

  • Pure merveille

  • parts of this sound a lot like Purcell's Cold Genius aria ?

  • @jordieM59 which part? although i don't know what that is, I'm interested to find out

  • Wonderful!

  • hermosa, me recuerda un poco a invierno.

  • Incredibile all'umano. Possibile solo al soprannaturale. Come può un uomo non ispirato, cioè il cui ideale non è UN ALTRO, fare queste cose prodigiose?

  • Incredibile all'umano. Possibile solo al soprannaturale. Come può un uomo non ispirato, cioè il cui ideale non è UN ALTRO, fare queste cose prodigiose?

  • Vivaldi is master of Strings. I like Bach for Harpsichord and Organ Concerto's.

  • @Riuk881 Problem is not Vivaldi or Bach. Problem is : What can possible this genius?

  • @Riuk881 Problem is not Vivaldi or Bach. Problem is : What can possible this genius? taf289

  • @taf289 I didn't understand that...

  • @Riuk881 Amazing human. Possible only to the supernatural. How can a man inspired, that is, whose ideal is not another, do these strange things?

  • Um, does anyone know the name of the painting?

  • The moment between 2:07 and 2:14 is bliss.

  • The opening of this reminds me of Michael Nyman!

  • @notsure002 Nyman was inspired by Purcell's 'Cold Song'

  • 5 RETARDED people do not appreciate good music

  • Vivaldi... my buddy...yeah.....

  • This is probably my favourite Vivaldi concerto. It's weirdly nervous and on edge despite it's obvious power, assurance and concentration. 2.40 to 3.10 is just out of this world. Incredible.

  • drummer jo jones: anything what hurts a human, hurts him as well.

  • hey vivaldi are you human ??

  • Why i'm i an idiot? Why did you ofend me? You say it's not a cicle of fifths? So let's see... We start in G down a fifth to C, then down a fifth do F, down a fofth to B flat...

Maybe you can teach me and then i would not be an idiot. Asshole.

  • @Rachmanizaca I already wrote that it is called "Quintfallsequenz" in German.

    Quinte ---> fifth

    -sequenz ---> sequence!

Both of you are right, I think.

    However, let´s enjoy the music!

  • That "tone ladder" is called the cicle of fifths amd it is present in Baroque music, especially in Vivaldi, it's always beautiful!

  • @Rachmanizaca your an idiot.. do u have any idea what a circle of fifths is.. and its not a tone ladder either its a sequence.

  • A mystical prelude

  • can anyone send me a link to this song in A minor?

  • He's such a genius

  • what a great picture of the two ladies.... and the accompanying music by vivaldi says it all.... the emotions depicted in the painting.....looks like one of them "got it" and the other "didn't get it at all"......otherwise great music//// vivaldi... yeah...

  • @yustov (Caravaggio Death of the Virgin)

  • 8:27 of heaven

  • 4 people hit the wrong button ive done it sometimes to

  • Did Vivaldi only take little naps between writing his compositions?

  • epic introduction...

  • This is great to listen to when studying :) Thumbs up if you agree!

  • @LovesGreysAnatomy18 doing it right now :)

  • @LovesGreysAnatomy18

not quite right... listen to it while cooking spaghetti or pasta.... it will turn out great...have that great italian flavour in it as well... yeah...

  • @LovesGreysAnatomy18

and cooking too... listen to it while cooking your spaghetti or pasta.... it will turn out great...have that great italian "flavours" whilst eating it as well... yeah...

  • @LovesGreysAnatomy18 aren´t there cellos playing in the baclground?^^ or do you mean something else?

  • @LovesGreysAnatomy18 or trying to conquer the world

  • @LovesGreysAnatomy18 wow, I was actually doing this now

  • LovesGreysAnatomy18: omg i thought that i am only one who does that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @LovesGreysAnatomy18 That's an insult to this music. It's deserves more than to be just some noise in the background. One's full attention should be devoted to it.

  • Totally agree, this is a masterpiece by one of the greatest composers of all time.

  • Is it just me or the beginning sounds like his Four Seasons?

  • Is it just me or the beginning really sounded like Summer and Winter in his Four Seasons' concerto?

  • ...Scarface anyone?

  • I don't know if Mozart knew and liked Vivaldi. What I know is that the great expressiveness in his music comes from the Italian style (obvious in Don Giovanni, Magic Flute, Requiem and others...) that was mixed with the viennese style. What I also noticed is that Vivaldi influenced Haydn when he composed his "passionate" works from the Sturm & Drang period (1772-1778), which later strongly influenced the pre-romantic Beethoven.

  • i love the pulse feel that a lot of vivaldi's compositions seem to have.

  • simply sublime!

  • HARMONICO101 best classical music videos uploader ever!!

  • so... 4 people who heard this song are retarted...

  • @balares hey!!! im no regardted duurrr....

  • @balares It's not a song.

  • @balares It's not a song...It's a concerto...

    A song includes singing.Otherwise it's an instrumental.

  • @JCTranscended Who gives a crap? You sound like one of those know it all music majors who have taken one music class and have figured it all out lol XD Dumbass! haha

  • @warmen0808 I was just trying to give an insight on what can be called a song...

You like one of those people who are still not bored of the "x people are y" and called dumbass on others out of nowhere...

  • @balares retarted

  • @balares FIVE

  • @balares 5 now! :P i disapprove

  • @balares bahaha retarted? Now, that's ironic.

  • @Nakiki18 yeah ok, i made a mistake, but you're the ones behaving like children... don't you have anything else to worry your pretty little minds?

  • @balares

I was just kidding. Calm down, it's not that serious.

  • @Nakiki18

...and it's 'mind,' not mind. Please don't take things to seriously, at least I wasn't harsh about it. It could've been much much worse.

  • @Nakiki18 dude, that's not the point. the thing is that for a simple mistake 4-5 people rip on me, so you make it serious. i'm sorry that you're the one who heard it, but i was refering to everybody who continued judging me for something of this little importance. btw i wasn't pissed, i was fed up.

  • @balares: wht the freak r u tlking bout vivaldi is azmaing and so is this song!

  • @balares Yeah how can someone not like this. You just have to be retarded hehe

  • @balares those people just don't have an understanding to this music..I love this

  • @balares

Or they just don't like Vivaldi. A difference in tastes does not mean a difference in intelligence, my friend.

  • @ZombieSlayer54 A difference in taste can be attested to a lack of intelligence, however...

  • @ZombieSlayer54

My friend.. I like to clarify your statement on those who dislike this...As you put it, difference in tastes translates to no taste at all and a difference in intelligence translates to no brains at all....Ha..Ha...Ha.. Gawd....How can one not like this????

  • @ZombieSlayer54 yes and moreover, a difference in taste is perhaps precisely a difference in intelligence.

  • @bheblynn correct. but what taste would be synonymous of the most astute intellect? Would you suppose that one who's delight in the classics corresponds to a higher intelligence? Or maybe, the fact of the matter is, the one with the broadest taste in the arts, specifically music, is the one who has the keenest IQ. I once read about a study where people with higher IQ's gravitated around many genres, and not just one style in specific.

  • @balares so your saying 4 people are ??? extremely sour ??? or maybe double sour

  • What is the paining you used here?

  • Certain the musicologist said have something like that more: "in the sky Bach is heard, but when angels are alone are playing Vivaldi

  • zomg Vivaldi makes me jizz

  • check this guy out youtube.com/user/RivasDeAmat

  • Can you make a playlist from L´Estro Armonico (all the twelve Concertos)? It will be my favourite Playlist =)

  • Thank you dear dear dear HARMONICO101 for planting this lovely Garden ... I feel like walking in a garden and picking fruit from the tree I like ... Thank you.

  • Very, VERY nice.

  • Follia pura. Assolutamente meraviglioso.

  • Was ein himmlische Musik!

  • un vivaldi plein d'enchantement !

  • 5:55-6:04 must be from another world..

  • Thanks for presenting Vivaldi's unique world heritage like this ('ขอบคุณครับ' - 'Thank you' words in Thai).

  • not unknown nor forgotten....and PERFECT.

  • My learned friend Mercer, first of all I am not a musician , but may I have the opportunity to put forward this question that why we expect an artist to start "De Novo" while we take it for granted that in for example science someone can see the world better upon "Giants Shoulders" ? if a composer absorbs and transforms a theme, even over the span of some works ,into something of his own it doesn`t seem a blemish on his art.

  • hi. where can i buy your well picked out music? i dont know very much about the whole thing but i love vivaldi's work. If you could name a few cds or orchestras or something that would be a great help. because it seems all the renditions you have are very beautifully played.

  • what painting?

  • I came here because of Master n Commander. Great Sound Treack! Great Film!

  • A.Lucio Vivaldi, for me, one of the greatest composer of all times!!!!!!!

  • Bello

  • Bello

  • the piece really fits the picture WOOw amazinggg

  • pretty good. got the sheet musik from school to play it, but its sounded weird to me, so i never started.i shoud :)

  • this is amazing!!!

  • my school played this song i played the violin solo it was pretty bomb but not as good as this lol

  • Best concerto grosso from Vivaldi! ;-)

  • Does anyone know how you call that sort of "tone ladder" that we hear from 2:08 to 2:15, something which is present in almost every Vivaldi song I've heard, to me those are always the best parts and i'd like to call it by the name... Thanks

  • I believe you're thinking of the circle of fifths progression (also called the circle progression). The reason it sounds so good is that the chords are all related by the simplest ratios of pitch frequency (3:2 and 4:3) which are perceived as being highly consonant.

  • Actually its a sequence, but good idea here, sequences sometimes use circles of fifths. :) And thats one of the reasons I love vivaldi, he LOOOOOOOVES sequences! ha

  • Its called a "sequence" where the same rhythm is reused several times but at different pitches, in this case descending which is most common. Although Baroque music uses ascending sequences sometimes.

  • Maybe it is the arpeggio or scale

  • @Mikado8686 a sort of "early chromaticism?"

  • @Mikado8686 It's called the circle of fifths and Vivaldi uses it often, always to great effect.

  • @Mikado8686 It's a sequence with a descending fifth and an ascending fourth.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mikado8686 I think is a descendens scale:)

  • @Mikado8686 I would just call it an imitative scalar motif. The reason it sounds familiar is probably the fact that it is used as a descending sequence outlining a circle progression, which is a trademark of baroque style.

  • @b0ttomzone "a descending sequence outlining a circle progression" I'd love to call it like that from now on ;) thanks

  • @Mikado8686 As has been said, its a cycle of fifths. Vivaldi uses them endlessly. At school we called it 'round the houses'. Thats the easiest way to describe that sequence. You can take the music tonally all around in a circle with them.

  • @Mikado8686 Ascending 4th sequence

  • @Mikado8686 its a seguenza, it means that a few notes repet them selfs in the same rytham but in different notes.

    (sorry for bad english)

  • @Mikado8686 I believe those "tone ladders" are called sequences or sequential movements. It's when you take a short melody and move it up or down by one or two notes each time.

  • @Mikado8686 It's certainly a favourite little flourish of Vivaldi's.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mikado8686 I think its an example of fortspinnung.
