i know it requieres midi to mimik a keyboard but any possible way to mimik say for example a Technics Organ without midi? Like running through digital mixer with midi?
i think is usefull to mimik when you have more than just the keyboard i mean when it really could come handy is when you have external efects units procesing the keyboard so you can make new libraries with the finish sound and if you wanna play it you dont have to set up all that crazy signal routings to play keyboard and set up all the efects etc etc.
how would it mimic legato glide moog synths and stuff wud u be able too do that? can u convert them to soundfonts.. omg u just sed sumthink bout legato now im guna rewind.
this is ridiculous. to clone every sound in one of my synths would takes months to do. thats lame. I thought this shit was automatic, like connect the midi cables and just rip the keyboard to the neko. I'm trying to mimik this oasys keyboard with my neko but after watching this video....its like...why? that would take me forever to do. you have to spend like 10 minutes just on one sound. the oasys has so many sounds that it would take me forever to mimik. that lame. this is slower than sampling!
Mimiking is not ridiculous. I made these videos so people understand how it works because a lot of people (like yourself) were misinformed.
Now that you know how it works, you can use it for what it is or not use it at all. Me personally, I would never try to clone an entire keyboard. To me, that would be ridiculous. But that's just my opinion.
do you know what i mean though?...In Order to clone just ONE synth it would forever. for real. I just got my XXL the other day, I set it up to clone my oasys....the Neko didnt come with a instruction manual so I check out your video and I'm like...what???! to clone this oasys would take seriously like a month at least. Thats all I'm saying, thanks for making the video man. I'm not trying to detract from your video.
it seems like mimiking is different than they promote it to be. I see all these videos of these producers saying they "CLONED" all their gear and sold them or put them in storage. they make it seem like the cloned the whole keyboard or whatever. when really they cloned maybe 50 sounds, maybe more, maybe less.
how long do you think it would take to clone 50 sounds from a keyboard? hours right? or no?
when I saw your video I just disconnected the oasys from the neko because i aint going to CLONE this oasys in any reasonable amount of time, so I'll just keep it.
But thanks for the making this vid. no I know what the mimik software is about.
No problem and yes, I do understand exactly what you mean. You're not crazy and you made some valid points. I am just here to help educate on the process. PEACE!!!
I think the idea behind mimik was to give you the possibility to clone the sounds you like the most in a keyboard and not to clone the entire keyboard.
When it comes to a fair amount of sounds it will take time, so some people leave it running over night.
Now, If you can afford to, I would definitely keep the Oasys because I bet has got loads of very nice sounds that you want to keep and some of those sounds maybe not easy to Mimik anyway.
Im not really enjoying the neko right now. The sound card doesnt work as of yet. I have an appointment this sat with open labs to figure it out.
as far as mimik goes, the open labs youtube vids really do make it sound like a program that will CLONE the entire keyboard. thats how they make it seem. I didnt know any better until I saw this video. you see all the producers claiming that they cloned all their boards and sold them. when really, they just cloned a few sounds. you know?
i was talking about ur mono bass sound if u come to the point that u run a sound like that through a plugin could'nt u layer the the sound in two diffrent plug ins to catch all of the sounds quiltys. it soumds like with the bass if u layer it in the two diffrent ways u shown it that it would sound the same way it did from the rack.

Was that Moog bass a stock ASR instrument sample, or did u purchase floppy/zip disks w/ sounds on them?
souljaworldtv 2 years ago
It was actually a stock sound from the EPS-16plus library.

Oh..........man no one has made any virtual good Moog sounds yet
(Reason Refills or VSTi) That's what's making me go back 2 hardware

Any chance you could do a Dimension tutorial?

The bass sound was already sampled perfectly. Just the playback was an issue because I don't have Kontact.
