Although on the original Spectrum, the beeper hogged entire CPU cycles meaning everything on screen would momentarily freeze every time a sound was made. On the other hand, some old Spectrum games like Trap Door, Aliens and Return Of The Jedi had a few clever programming tricks that gave the illusion of multi-channel audio which sounded great in the title music - Especially Aliens!
If I have them, they'll show up on here eventually, but a lot of these Electron games are exclusive to the Electron.
I do tend to stick with a system till I've done all the games on it though, just because it save a lot of messing around with setting up and suchlike.
Haha - "After much messing around I've worked out how to start the game... aren't I clever". Quotes like that make these videos even more enjoyable to watch :)
This game was really good at the time, I think I could get up to about 8th Dan - but that was when I was younger and much less rubbish!
Funnily enough I was playing IK+ on a C64 emulator with my brother a few days ago - another awesome (and very similar) game... music was much less annoying too!
With one channel sound, I'd say the Electron wasn't much better than the original Spectrum - and I mean the buzzer.

The interference is in time to the music!

Yes, the audio signal interferes with the video signal, probably in the modulator.
The result is kinda like a 70s disco.

Reminds me of the days when BBC cameras didn't like machine gun fire, cos they'd do the same thing.

Now this is a good fighter. One off the best £2:99 games I had on my C64. Ah the good old days :)

Any chance of seeing some of these games on other platforms other than the Electron? I would love to see how different versions look.
