Undisciplined singing, he seems to have little or no control over his instrument. No sense of style, with everything sung at full volume and bad intonation.

It's a big theater with no microphones, so i can't blame him for singing to the balcony.

Overall i don't think it's too horrible for someone who just learned how to sing a few years earlier.

Absolutely. I can't fathom being as good as he is with so little experience. But I don't pay for a ticket to watch someone learning and working things out. He's singing at HGO this season, article in Opera News etcetera... they're presenting him as this finished artist when he (understandably) doesn't know how to play his instrument yet.

To be honest, i know little about opera, so this sounds beautiful to me. But i can see how a connoisseur would be able to spot that he isn't a master. I wonder how much of that is due to my cheap video camera with horrendous audio. Does this video, with better audio, give you the same impression? /watch?v=q2EjKCT9iUE
