Yngwie is a cool guy. I know him personally. I also know a lot of the guys that have been in his band. People knock YJM usually because they are jealous of him. He's very talented and is an independent thinker. Of course, business wise he is a task master, but it is justified. You have to understand, if you are not in the industry, you may see him as cocky or arrogant, but he's not. He is just confident in his ability. Cool dude, elusive, exclusive and determined. That's what keeps him #1.
I guess I'm bored with the neoclassical power metal shred fest thing. He could probably do a great fusion album (like Tony McAlpine or Greg Howe) and I'd definitely find that interesting. Or an acoustic/roots album. Or write a symphony WITHOUT distorted screaming lead shred crap all over the top of it. Or translate his whole neoclassical thing onto cool retro synth musings like Wendy Carlos. He's very talented, but why does he limit his output to such a narrow repertoire?
Yep that's right. Many people doesn't seem to understand that and calls him an egocentric sob. Then MJ, Chuck Berry, James Brown, Elvis, Janis Joplin etc were egocentric sob's as well. Wich they're arent of course. PLAY LOUD man.
He used to be pretty arrogant but I think he's mellowed a bit now. On stage he does make it all about him though, if you watch his G3 performance he literally has his drummer, kayboard player and bass player tucked away in a corner while he takes up the rest of the stage doing guitar flips lol. He's still my favourite guitar player though.
of course they were in the fucking corner...because he knows people don´t pay to see the fucking drummer or keyboard player..its like going to michael jackson concert and watch the drummer??..who the fuck cares about them really honestly??
It's the principle of it lol... You don't see Joe Satriani or Steve Vai do it. But I'm not going to argue with someone over the internet about it, so chill out kiddo.
Alot of the guitar players in the US weren't very nice to him when he came here either my friend. Mostly because he came here and pissed all over them and quite frankly they didn't like it.

He's actually a pretty decent guy who has to live up to a huge reputation every time he steps out on stage. Not an easy thing to do.

Has Yngwie come back down to earth? Is he a nice guy now or is his ego still giant. Love the music, but back in the day he wasn't a very nice person.
