I think umami is more accurately but still roughly translated to "good flavor," not "delicious." うまい (umai) = delicious; the kanji 味 = flavor or taste; put 'em together you get うま味 (umami) = pleasant flavor.
i believe the theme song is a re-mix of "Charles" by Beanfield. it took a minute for me to realize this. in face it drove me crazy, as i used to rock "Charles" over and over in the past.
