idk about the console version, but the 3DS version of Generations has special stages that are basically a clone of sonic heroes' special stage

In Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles, there are four shields, 1) the Fire Shield, it protects you from fire damage, lets you do the "Fire Dash", but, being that it's fire, you'll want to avoid water if you want to keep it, 2) the Electric/Lightning/Magnetic Shield, it let's you double jump, protects you from the EXTREEMELY rare electricity damage, and draws in rings towards you, and again, avoid water if you plan on keeping it...

Somewhere in this games devlopment, the message at the beginning of every Special Stage said "Get blue balls" instead of "Get blue spheres", untill someone told Yuji Naka (the head of Sonic Team) about the double meaning, so it was changed, I'd like to go back in time to prevent that change, if it wouldn't destroy the universe or something like that.
