And if you close your eyes, a river; a silent and beautiful current, fills you from within. Flows forward, forward, darkens you. Night brings it's wetness to beaches in your soul.
That part makes the song. Can you please make a video without the cutoff?
@superman84241 thats nothin. his "when david heard" has some intense action in it. pretty much a string of grapes all the way down from the top line of the staff
@YellowCakeKid oh im aware, ive sepnt many time going over the oddesy in that song lol, the resolves at the all the "my son" parts is just text book perfect
this piece was one of the hardest ive done besides cloudburst but it is simply beautiful. i think it would sound alot better if they slowed down a bit
@ bddyjoel: It's a cluster on an F# lydian scale (raised 4th). The distance between the lower parts are somewhat larger (think root, 5th, 3rd, in that order), giving the chord a sort of basic F# major feel at the base, and above that just every note in the scale, almost, up to F#2. Yeah, I cheated with a piano. ;)
I'm immensely upset that part of the song is missing...
While I enjoy polyphony's interpretation of "Sleep" better than I like BYU's, this is my favorite version of this song. The balance and blend are magical.
This is such a beatiful song. Its so modern and diffrent.Thats what makes it unique. I'm in chours and we heard this and I was completely amazed by its gracefulness.
erik whitacre is absolute genious. to be able to put into words and better yet write music that with such a passion and and aura about it as to make a rock cry, sows the power of music. his abilites, but more so muisc in general gives us the slightest taste of heaven. glorious. i cant wait till i can be apart of something so beautiful that words in the english language lacks words to discribe. but blessed we are to have that problem
its funny, because the lyrics in the song arent written by whitacre, nor are they originally in english. They are originally from a poem by octavio paz. they are in spanish.
This is beautiful T-T WMEA All-State sang this today, and we took it a little slower than this, but I think this is the best tempo for the song. I love how all the parts are so evenly balanced.
this is such an insane song. I mean, Eric whitacre uses a 14 part chord a few times! His music will definatly be sung 100+ years from now. You have to do it correctly to be good though. i would definatly get the full version and repost the vid! Good job to truncatedslinky and Whitacre!!
it's gorgeous! but where is the rest of the song!! im dying to hear it! we're singing it in our choir right now and I want to hear the ending of it soo badly i've heard other recordings of it but this is by far the most amazing one
i have this recording. even though it has no word emphasis, you can hear the overtones clearly and it never ceases to amaze me. i've seen the original music and it splits into fourteen parts! this always relaxes me no matter what, so thank you for having this recording!
Actually, flowersonmyhat, this is the version performed by the BYU Choir, which is absolutely stunning. I feel that Polyphony's techinique of vibrato at climactic passages takes away from the timbre of Eric Whitacre. That being said, I still give mad props to both choirs for being absolutely amazing.
hey who is the choir that sang this recording of Water Night? i absolutely love this song! have been searching around youtube for a good recording, and your seems to sound really clean and "magical" .. who are the voices behind it????
this shit is so stupid
