Lolz, Mario Dies, the special music is played.

well, the death music is stored in the level music bank, and the title screen music is stored in the overworld music bank (for some reason). Therefore, when you die, the number for the death music is the same as the number for the special world music, so it plays.

Under the screen is a giat bowl with all the pixels ever used in the game. Mario swimms in this giant ocean of pixels back to the beginning of the level ;)

It is the maximum amount of life Mario can have. If you get a 1up you will now have 0 lifes. P5 is (sorta) hex for 256, and in many games getting more than 256 [item] will reset the amount back to 0. There's more, but it is confusing and it won't fit in this comment box.
