Yes, people who use that system may get some subscribers. But that's just a number, it doesn't really mean anything if there's no 'relationship' behind it.
Have you gone around on other channels and videos and left comments? Made friends?
Maybe you should get on Twitter, and use the search field to search for people who talk about subjects that you're interested in, and in that way bring them over here.
