@LloydVlogs33 Dear cousins, you should study History. then you'll learn that the people of Britanny came from Irland, Walles and England in the V-VI centuries
I hate it when people compare us , Bretons with basques and other minorities... Unlike these minorities, we actually had our own country, our soverigns, our economy, our currency. We were independant for over 1000 years. Britanny is an occupied country, just like Tibet is in China. When you people call us a "region" or a minority, you just replay the lies the french republic has been spreading for decades. We are an oppressed people and we just want our land free
@Maetel22 Welsh composed the anthem, but Bretons asked them if they could use the same tune since they share the same origin. The Welsh were happy to share it, since Cornish and Bretons are their brethren nations. Breizh Atao
It is a shame the French establishment seem to look down on the ethnic groups of their own country, they seem to want to project to the world and themselves a vision of just one country & people,France,no other can exist for them. They oppress the smaller groups, like you & Basques & the Germanic people in Alsace , it seems narrow minded and fearful to me.
@hanterkant really, they are the same?! On another topic the French government are notorious for wanting to oppress minorites in their borders, surely they do not like this link with a part of Grande Bretagne .
@bazzatheblue Brittany has no official existence as an independant area, thus there is no national anthem. But for more than a century this song came from Wales to Brittany due to the attention of a Welsh pastor who emigrated in Brittany. The song became known in Brittany. On the Welsh music, a Breton bard put verses in Breton. Now it is the received anthem of Brittany. Et voila!
@hanterkant i see, very interesting,i never knew this.Is the Celtic language in Bretagne strong now?I see the French government does not like minority languages much so does this affect it`s power.
@bazzatheblue no there are fexer and fewer of old people who can speak everyday. During the IIIrd Republic (1871 1940) the french government succeded in making people to be ashamed of speaking breton. so most of our grand parents prefered to speak french with our parents and the language started to desapear. now there is a movement which try to stop the decline of the language but I think a few people fell concerned. But the traditionnal culture (festival, music, dance) is very popular
@Lulopa29 j' ai lit méme trop de livre , mais le cas de la France n'est pas les cas de l'italie " nous en ai au moins une nation , les italiens ne sont méme pas un pas un peuple ils sont très divers
Origins: Bro gozh my zadoù is the Breton national anthem. The air(sight) is inspired by the hymn of our Welsh cousins ( 1856 ), but the words are of François Jaffrenou drafted in 1898.
