i aak all my friends if theyve seen this and their like "OH! yeah isnt that the stupid weired creepy movie by henry selick?" and im like >:O "how could you..."
Last summer, my family and I went on vacation to Cape Cod. I had recently recovered an old sock monkey from my childhood and decided to bring it on the trip with me. As I explored our vacation house, it was cold, damp, and dirty, but still beautiful. I went upstairs and found a tiny, locked door in the living room. The monkey doll under my arm, I called, "Hey Dad, where does this door go?" I gasped. I never went back upstairs for the remainder of the trip. True story.
I love this music. Dark, Twisted, Captivating, but so Gorgeous, no one would even care abotu the other things. This and book were so magical and dark. I can't even put into words how deeply loved and entwined I am into the story.
I'm sorry that I was mistaken. After all of the debate I saw on this page, I looked on several different web pages. It is not a real language. It is a made up language using syllable sounds of Chinese, french, German, and others.
ive also always loved anything with button eyes. i used to draw pictures when i was like 11 with really pretty looking girls that had only button eyes and no mouth.
i used to have dreams of people with button eyeswhen i was little. i drew pictures of them on paper that hung on my wallss.... thats way i like coraline so much because it makes me think of my old dreams.
After I saw Coraline, I don't want any doll with button eyes. (I only got one and it was a Monster High ragdoll, but it doesn't have real button eyes, so I guess it's OK.)
@SuperSolitaireShock I'm assuming the Beldam died, since failing to feed on Coraline caused her/ it to starve ("I'LL DIE WITHOUT YOU!"). Still, I've given thought to maybe writing a fanfic in which the Beldam is brought back from the dead about 4 years after the movie takes place.
@Adamguy2003 but remember, the beldam had to wait at least 70 years after eating wybie's great-aunt before coraline came along. she'd probably survive at least 10 years before actually starving. who knows how long she had to wait for the other kids?
she could always just move to a different house when pink palaces get destroyed. the door can't be locked if there is no door to be locked >:p
@SuperSolitaireShock Keep in mind how much the house and the rest of the Other world was falling apart in the end. This was because the Beldam had grown so weak from her hunger that she no longer had the energy to sustain it. Losing Coraline ensured that she was doomed.
@SuperSolitaireShock I was always curious to whether the Other Mother actually physically eats children or whether she eats their lives (essentially by forcing them to live in a living nightmare until they die).
Coraline. Pfft..Do you really have to ask? Its not what it seems, and you have to be careful what you wish for..because the Beldam with get you if you're not...The No named cat told us so..because cats don't need names..they don't forget who they are. :3
Bahahahaha! I've read the book, seen the movie a million times..I really love it..
I'd like to give thanks to Henry Selick for directing a magical book into an even more magical movie. I'd also like to thank everybody who took part in this movie to make it magical. Also a big thanks to Bruno Coulais for making this movie have beautiful music that has no english words, but words that make every person who listens to them, predicts differently. And most definately thank you Neil Gaiman for making a story so dark but magical and powerful. Thank you!
@dbear851 henry selick and tim burton are very similar i've noticed...both would have done great. people don't talk about henry enough. thanks for congratulating him...i agree with you
@MissCureCrazy I think I read somewhere that Tim Burton was too busy to work on The Nightmare Before Christmas because he was also doing the Batman movie, so he hired the same director who did this.
@MrFriebomb969 well unlike me some people where not born of horor movies or movies like this unlike me i was and i love this movie and i have a craving for watching it today ;D
this movie is not scary at all it.s very imaginative if you ask me and i really don.t see where ppl get these nightmares from cuz this brings me back home you guys are jus babies
@MrFirebomb969 The movie isn't scary all that much (maybe a little creeper at times when the Other Mother went through her final transformation into that spider-like creature) but the book definitely had its moments, and I think Neil Gaiman did a terrific job making it creepy, but (at least for me) not to much to the point where it can be classified as a horror book.
Me and my dad saw this movie.I loved it so much, that I asked him to buy me the movie. And he did.All these years,I never really loved my dad.He always ignored me,told me my mother didn't want me.A year later,my dad died.Because of my dad's death,I finally realized what this movie was trying to tell us kids. That losing your parent/parents really is more painful than having buttons sewn into your eyes.I found out he lied about my mom 'cause he loved me too much to ever let me go.
@ricardoxot Coraline is a horror movie for kids.I'm an adult now - 20 years old.I saw Coraline, when I was 18 and it still managed to give me nightmares.
@BubonicDoctor Well,I suffer (and not so much) from an overproductive imagination,so the abstracted concept of the movie came out as really scary to me.I could also relate to Coraline a lot on a personal level, making the whole movie even more surreal to watch.
When the other mother sewed the buttons into the dolls eyes, that's what she wanted to do to the real coraline. It's almost as if the doll was representing what was going to happen to coraline if she wanted to stay. become the other mother's little "puppet" idk, at least that's how i saw it. love this movie!
i try to read the book i couldnt i watched the movie first before i got the book that was probably a bad idea i like the movie better then book but thats how am i mostly i love the movies better

@GilliesL the two songs are very similar, but the last few minutes are different. Dreaming has little more vocals while mechanical lullaby has more "mechanical" beats
@shippoiscoolbitches i know i didn say i waz from the movie i waz just saying my name is coraline but i didnt get button eyes my icon with buttton eyes isnt me its the other coraline well somthing i made inspired bythe movie
Does anyone else notice, with the exception of the cocoa beatles from zanzibar, the Other Mother doesn't eat? Both times she's eating with coraline, her plate is empty.
@OpalDiamondDragon773 I heard that too, and it scared me out equally x'''D After seeing the movie I think no kid would ever want those dolls anymore x')
I saw a commercial about stuffed dolls that look EXACTLY LIKE THE OTHER's DOLL. I screamed when I saw them. I think they were called 'Wala Wala Whoopsie' Dolls or something but they looked so much like The Beldam's doll. It was creepy O.o *shiver*

Hey SakuraJurai! I love this soundtrack so thanks for uploading! But isn't this the same as 'Dreamimg'?
GilliesL 11 months ago
@GilliesL the two songs are very similar, but the last few minutes are different. Dreaming has little more vocals while mechanical lullaby has more "mechanical" beats

Does anyone else notice, with the exception of the cocoa beatles from zanzibar, the Other Mother doesn't eat? Both times she's eating with coraline, her plate is empty.
IDBTitanosaurus 1 year ago
@IDBTitanosaurus because it's to impress Coraline. It's about her being impressed with this life that she's discovered.
MrStarrbooty 1 year ago
@IDBTitanosaurus did you ever notice that coraline was only allowed 2 spoonsful of food before other mother took the plate away? =P
