Hate to break it to you, but you're completely and utterly wrong. I spent 5 years in the Marines, and they don't give you any of that sort of training unless you're an MP. If someone deploys somewhere, and is selected for gate guard duty then you get a 5 minute lesson on ROE and searching procedures. Even then it is all about preventing an escalation in violence should there be risk of a riot or searching procedures. You also forget that every military member is a citizen here.
America is their home, and their families live here so short of someone outright attempting to kill someone then you'd be hardpressed to get them to shoot at fellow Americans. Besides, the National Guard are the only people in the military who are even allowed to do any sort of law enforcement on American soil.

Hate to break it to you, but you're completely and utterly wrong. I spent 5 years in the Marines, and they don't give you any of that sort of training unless you're an MP. If someone deploys somewhere, and is selected for gate guard duty then you get a 5 minute lesson on ROE and searching procedures. Even then it is all about preventing an escalation in violence should there be risk of a riot or searching procedures. You also forget that every military member is a citizen here.

You follow orders when you join the military. You do what you are told. If you can't handle that, then don't become an objector after you are in uniform. If you do, you'll understand what a court martial is and have your life ruined.
Maybe this exercise was very real because there was a very real threat they learned about through intel gathered regarding potential terroist acts. American's would be screaming if there way of life was fractured by an extremist group hell bent on destruction.
