I had not heard of the research you have mentioned, only about the research at Duke University, regarding the suppression of microRNAs which will flush out the virus from the nervous system, which would mean you could actually kill it and be rid of it forever. It's at least 10yrs off readiness though.

I thought I heard that Type 1 (oral) may be cured by some antibiotic treatment. I've had cold sores since I was a kid. My teenagers don't have it because I was VERY careful with them while they were growing up. A cure would be nice though.

Cure for herpes/cancers and a lot of other viruses and diseases. My brother had HSV2 and tried this and no I'm not spamming; just trying to get the word out like you are in this video. Whitecobra211,you don't have to have a sexual partner to get oral herpes (HSV1). If anyone (who was infected and was either having an outbreak or shedding) kissed you, maybe even when you were a child, you could have caught it. The best way for you to find out is to get a HSV1 igG blood test. I would not waste my money on a igM test, unless I was combining it with a igG. The igM test is faulty. If you've had it past 3 months the igG test will most likely pick up the G antibodies you've produced.
I know it doesn't make things better, but know that about 80% to 90% of people are infected with some form of herpes and that only 1 in 10 infected people even know they are. That's why more people need to get tested. That way, they WILL KNOW, slow down the speed of infection to others, and pressure companies for a cure. I hope within in 3 to 5 years herpes will be as easy to cure as clamydia. Be nice to go to dr and get shot or pill and be done with it. I'm rooting for the hammerhead ribozymes!
Believe it or not...it could. There have been cases where wrestlers got infected by oral and "mat" herpes. It can even get in the eyes and other places...say if one of those areas or cuts happens to rub against the infected area during a wrestling match. You guys are, after all, in very close contact, putting each other in head locks, etc.

Sorry to tell you but cold sores are Herpes Simplex Virus 1. Yes they are a strand of the herpes virus. You can get it from kissing someone who already has the virus.
U're correct about priority of cancer research. U should point out HPV (Human PapillomaVirus) strains R linked 2 cervical, breast, throat, penile, & anal cancers & R just as easily spread as Herpes! 300+ million ppl a year DIE of these cancers. & the worst part is there ARE vaccines available. I also would like to remind people the best way they can find out that they have herpes or not is to take the type specific (either HSV1 or HSV2) IgG blood test, especially if it's been 3 to 6 months since exposure. The igM bloot test is not very reliable and can give false results.
Would like to explain the M antibody is the 1st antibody created when infected with herpes. Then, the body stops making M and starts making G antibodies. The G antibody is made from that point on. Every once in a while the body will make M during outbreaks, but it never stops making G. That's the main reasons, among others, as to why the igG test is best and why the igM isn't very reliable after a period of time. Also, the igM can have other factors that interfere with the results.
Univ. of Florida researchers are already far ahead of them and have developed a cure that actually stops viral replication (it does the opposite of what duke does, it puts the virus to sleep, forever). They have demonstrated it works on animals but have said no one is interested in funding their clinical trials.
These drugs sell at $5+ a pill , even generic famvir is over $500 a month. Drug companies are only interested in TREATMENTS and NOT cures!

I'm single hsv type 2. A good way to rid it is by people not spreading it. All people should get tested every 3 months for std/sti most don't. Its hard to find other people that have H cause most are prideful or careless and go on living as if they dont have it. There's groups out there for people with H and Daring sites too. Why is it flu vaccines are made so quickly and sold so fast after they are created? Why not the on for H?

a fell day back i noticed that i felt that tingly feeling in the skin (underneath my arm pit) and i thought no big deal, but a few days later this blister started to pop out i didnt know what it was but after like a day or two they really started to get like this burning so i went to the doctor and said it was herpes although i didnt get a blood test or anything like that, but now im pretty convinced its herpes. she prescriped me some med called "aciclovir". the sores have been going away now..

Good investigation Daniel. These are two patentable herpes projects not receiving funding. There are other promising results in resonance homeopathy and herbs which also get ignored. There were studies done on hypericum mysorense which showed 100% viral suppression in lab settings and others done on nosodes (Energetic imprints of the virus used as a homeopathic vaccine ). Neither research really received further funding especially since one cannot patent a herb or homeopathic invention.

mix it with water, i put a high consentration of salt in my water when the sore is starting to heal... it stings, but when i have a new outbreak i put just a little bit in the water nd let it disolve completely... nd it doesn't sting so much if the water is warm... for females if u put it in a squirt bottle nd use it while your urinating for some reason it stops the urine from burning the open sores... It is really uncommon, but possible.. Most common is around the mouth region, second one is genitals, but there are many variations and you can have it anywhere on your body..

Edit below-- Blood test for detecting the Herpes Virus 1 or 2 is not included in the standard battery of STD testing. They should inform people at a young age to also include Herpes Testing. Its probably one of the main reasons why there is a large number of people with this disease. Im very passionate about finding a cure for both HSV 1/2 and hopefully this will happen in the near future. Emails to me are always welcome.
Forgot to mention - For STD testing, blood testing is not part of the standard test. Make sure to ask your physician to add this to the battery of testing. Whitecobra211,you don't have to have a sexual partner to get oral herpes (HSV1). If anyone (who was infected and was either having an outbreak or shedding) kissed you, maybe even when you were a child, you could have caught it. The best way for you to find out is to get a HSV1 igG blood test. I would not waste my money on a igM test, unless I was combining it with a igG. The igM test is faulty. If you've had it past 3 months the igG test will most likely pick up the G antibodies you've produced.

I know it doesn't make things better, but know that about 80% to 90% of people are infected with some form of herpes and that only 1 in 10 infected people even know they are. That's why more people need to get tested. That way, they WILL KNOW, slow down the speed of infection to others, and pressure companies for a cure. I hope within in 3 to 5 years herpes will be as easy to cure as clamydia. Be nice to go to dr and get shot or pill and be done with it. I'm rooting for the hammerhead ribozymes!

Believe it or not...it could. There have been cases where wrestlers got infected by oral and "mat" herpes. It can even get in the eyes and other places...say if one of those areas or cuts happens to rub against the infected area during a wrestling match. You guys are, after all, in very close contact, putting each other in head locks, etc.

I also would like to remind people the best way they can find out that they have herpes or not is to take the type specific (either HSV1 or HSV2) IgG blood test, especially if it's been 3 to 6 months since exposure. The igM bloot test is not very reliable and can give false results.

Would like to explain the M antibody is the 1st antibody created when infected with herpes. Then, the body stops making M and starts making G antibodies. The G antibody is made from that point on. Every once in a while the body will make M during outbreaks, but it never stops making G. That's the main reasons, among others, as to why the igG test is best and why the igM isn't very reliable after a period of time. Also, the igM can have other factors that interfere with the results.

Univ. of Florida researchers are already far ahead of them and have developed a cure that actually stops viral replication (it does the opposite of what duke does, it puts the virus to sleep, forever). They have demonstrated it works on animals but have said no one is interested in funding their clinical trials.
These drugs sell at $5+ a pill , even generic famvir is over $500 a month. Drug companies are only interested in TREATMENTS and NOT cures!

I'm single hsv type 2. A good way to rid it is by people not spreading it. All people should get tested every 3 months for std/sti most don't. Its hard to find other people that have H cause most are prideful or careless and go on living as if they dont have it. There's groups out there for people with H and Daring sites too. Why is it flu vaccines are made so quickly and sold so fast after they are created? Why not the on for H?

a fell day back i noticed that i felt that tingly feeling in the skin (underneath my arm pit) and i thought no big deal, but a few days later this blister started to pop out i didnt know what it was but after like a day or two they really started to get like this burning so i went to the doctor and said it was herpes although i didnt get a blood test or anything like that, but now im pretty convinced its herpes. she prescriped me some med called "aciclovir". the sores have been going away now..

Good investigation Daniel. These are two patentable herpes projects not receiving funding. There are other promising results in resonance homeopathy and herbs which also get ignored. There were studies done on hypericum mysorense which showed 100% viral suppression in lab settings and others done on nosodes (Energetic imprints of the virus used as a homeopathic vaccine ). Neither research really received further funding especially since one cannot patent a herb or homeopathic invention.

And I got oral herpes from the longest term relationship of my life. Herpes doesn't come from promiscuity. mix it with water, i put a high consentration of salt in my water when the sore is starting to heal... it stings, but when i have a new outbreak i put just a little bit in the water nd let it disolve completely... nd it doesn't sting so much if the water is warm... for females if u put it in a squirt bottle nd use it while your urinating for some reason it stops the urine from burning the open sores... I use the salt from the day i feel like i'm starting to get a break out till i think it's over

Edit below-- Blood test for detecting the Herpes Virus 1 or 2 is not included in the standard battery of STD testing. They should inform people at a young age to also include Herpes Testing. Its probably one of the main reasons why there is a large number of people with this disease. Im very passionate about finding a cure for both HSV 1/2 and hopefully this will happen in the near future. Emails to me are always welcome.

Forgot to mention - For STD testing, blood testing is not part of the standard test. Make sure to ask your physician to add this to the battery of testing. i had my test results... and im hsv negative... but hell, this was the scariest month of my life... i dont want anyone to suffer with this virus, im going to write a letter to TIME magazine, asking for awareness, the urgency and capabilities of finding a vaccination that would silence the virus in the body... remember that everybody gets a flu shot every year to avoid the symptoms a the flu, imagine this kind of shot for the cold sore...

i think it would be great to find a cure and vaccine. but i think people would use it in such an immoral way, that is, sleeping around. yeah, that might sound stupid, but i know a lot of people have regrets with who they have been with, not because they have an STD, because of the emotional factors as well.

I think that a cure for herpes will be a breakthrough for a variety of other nerves diseases. The more important to find a cure.

im surprised how similar herpes is compared to other viruses... if you have ever had the cold or influenza, that stuff still sticks in your body, but they are reduced to absolutely nothing, practically dead... if only they could do the same for the herpes virus... i see the herpes virus becoming the futures common cold... if we can fin a cure by then

It seems like the product called resolve seems to be working.I have not tried this product so i'm not really sure.I will write back when i get more information.

i have a retarded question (what id a doctor cut open the infected area straight to the nerves system, and flood the whole thing with the acy*(thing)) wouldnt that pretty much kill the disease... or could it cause like paralysis or somethin (sorry if u thought that was stupid) i dont know much about the human anatomy

i think you should start something like herpes awareness or something, it could be used to start donations and giving ppl hopes of a cure... Im still not sure if I have anything, because the doctor told me what i have is unusual... but im still in this fight even if i dont have anything...
