@THEDRUCKENZEBRA No its not as good. I would have give it 6 / 10 or 7 / 10. It has clumsy gameplay, weak story. The better part is multiplayer but you get fast tired of it. The only star of the show is the aliens, they have good animations and have good A.I. they climb on walls, ceiling, hide a bit and surprise you. But the downside is they sometimes growls like a lion

@NitroTab1 Yes it has a weak story. In the 1999 version you find out more yourself as you play (from FMV videos). I rather have it like that then a story that sucks.

There is a lot of things that bothered me with the alien gameplay. Like you have to press a button to get in a vent. In the 1999 version you had more control and could move faster around. The 2010 version feels like a step back.

+ there are a lot of more things too I dont like about it.

Ja, når jeg har fått fullført alle 3 single player campaignene og spilt masse multiplayer. Må muligens vente på noen patcher fra Rebellion før jeg kan begynne på omtalen, for slike spillet er nå multiplayer messig, virker det ikke ferdig.

the sequal of this game was going to come out on ps2 and the ps2 could handle it but they scrapped it. the new avp game that just came out is the first fps avp game on any console, the games are all good but the should port some of them to consoles

i dunno, if the campaign was a film i'd say it was the most badass film i've seen in a while, but as far as gameplay goes, it had its faults.

for example arma 2 i find difficult, but also fun.

mw2 single player well some parts are just plain irritating. especially the parts where you get one shot from nowhere while being behing cover. xD

the multiplayer was a rip off, worst of all is from what i've seen, the games brought loads of hackers into good games like l4d2. =.=

It was in the first Alien movie when the crew from the Nostramo (Ripley) set down on LV426 to investigate the distress signal and discovered the crashed alien ship which housed this alien creature (AKA Pilots) with its chest busted out and went on to discover further the Alien eggs laying in stasis below.

@Dfrost246 I read about it on Wikipedia - they are a space of aliens who used that ship suposedly as a bomber - they bombed planets with Xenomorph eggs and the population would be decimated by them. The species are called "Space Jockeys". But somehow the pilot got infected and crash landed the ship, then sent a beacon for help.

Also, the Xenomorphs wiped their species out 1.5 billion years ago, so that ship is pretty old :)

when ur alien you carve up humans as if they are made out of toilet paper (even tho it takes a lot of hits to kill you when you are human and the alien tries to kill you =.=)

Great, I've finished Invasion :) Then I finished Orbital. the facehuggers aren't that hardass as they seem :P

Though now I'm having a problem at Tyrargo. When the predator appears, it becomes incredibly hard as he has so much HP in him, I end up with 20 HP left. Kill the predalien with sentries, blahblah, and just as I was about to touch the door to finish the level I got killed by some xenomorph >:( Of course I had no saves as it was AvP1 so I have to start the level all over again.

I've never completed the marine campaign. The facehuggers just scared the shit out of me, so I only played Alien. Now I'm going to face my fear again after a few years, and defeat those clanky facehuggers in Invasion once and for all!

Hehehehe yeah those are some nasty little buggers. Use headphones and then u can listen if they are close or to ur right and left. Best way to kill em is with flamethrower. Quick and easy to hit. Good luck Marine!!!

lol thanks :D Managed to get avp working on my older laptop. The facehuggers make such a creepy tearing sound when they walk, so whenever I hear them I flamethrower all over the place and use up all my pulse rifle grenades in panic xD

Oh, and is it just me or the facehuggers can't really facehug you unless your view is positioned at them? Because when I played the demo a long time ago, before I had the retail, a facehugger was right under my feet, but didn't get me until I looked down.

I really dont know that, I just shoot them right away, I got facehugged 2 or 3 times in a bacement in one stage cause it was so dark down there. But it kind of make sense, cause no point facehugging from behind

I managed to face my fear now (in a part though). I managed to kill at least 3 facehuggers in Invasion and finally shut down one fan, got both the flamethrower and the smartgun :P

It turned out they weren't all that much of a horror, just make sure to use pulse rifle grenades and flamethrower on them, and if they get close, make sure to look away and run.

I have seen some a lot of gameplay videos of the new AvP now and I am a bit worried. Are many newbie assistanse there and very linear and u have an arrow to point u in the right direction. I hope the PC version will have some options to remove some of that

I'm sure there will be an option to disable it in the game's settings menu. The only thing is, a lot of today's console gamers and critics are total dumbasses and start raging and low-rating a game just because it doesn't have any kind of hinting to help you play, A.K.A hates when a game is too hard for them.

Back in the late 90's, games were interesting because we didn't have this kind of gamer back then. Now video-game devs really want to work hard to avoid harsh critism and low rating.

Ive played the demo for the upcoming AvP with my freinds cuz they said it had really good multiplayer. I thought it was fun and that the aliens, predators, and humans all had a unique play style to them. I do have to say the map is quite small but its fun non the less. Btw if you play as the marine you will be scared due to being the most vulnerable and slowest out of the 3 races

@L33T798 i agree i have played the demo and enjoyed it alot - but you will not be scared as a marine becuase you are vulnerable it has more to do with this small radar and its constant pip-pip sound when enemys are nearby :D

and the marine are not slow or vulnerable just use a smart-gun or scoped rilfe and you will be kicking some serious ass

the smart gun makes you slow and you cant run while holding it. I like more the pulse rifle; grenade launcher + more ammo and u can run with it. I think the marines moves a bit too slow and when u hit the run button you cant shoot. But the game is good balanced, if u are good with a marine you will get lots of frags, vice versa with the other species. People just have to learn how to play with each specie. I got over 40 frags in just a 5 min. game with the marine.

Yup buy this game on STEAM it's really cheap. As of right now there is no multiplayer for the STEAM download version, HOWEVER, Rebellion's CEO stated that multiplayer would be added in a future patch to the STEAM version for free.

I have both AvP Gold (XPLOSIV cover) and AvP 1 on CD-ROM, and I don't need to buy it on Steam. It works completely fine on my almost 9 year old laptop which came with XP Home Edition, now running a skimmed-down version of XP Pro using nLite with some non-needed services removed.

And there's no point on buying it on Steam just to be able to play it on XP as you can just get simonlemonhead's graphics patch which fixes most of the render problems.

Interesting I only played AvP2 but this game is quite similar. Though I think the first level in the sequel is better since it plays tricks on you with the motion tracker when no real enemies are in the entire level lol. Also hints at predators.

I could run avpgold on XP with an nvidia card, but the sound was screwed up and I think it was my soundcard thats all.

Its because Gold wont run with XP + Modren Graphics card think anything past Geforce 3 if you want it to work you need to get the organal Big Box/Jewl case version runs fine on XP with very little issue couplde sound clitches now again but thats all hope thats help

I remember the big argument was that they couldn't put FPS on consoles because you needed that reaction time from the mouse and keyboard.

I think Timesplitters was the first console FPS that had you flying through the whole place.

If you compare this to Halo gameplay, in halo you feel like you are running underwater
