Just learned that one of my oldest friends in Jazz, Saxophonist and arranger-composer Frank Foster passed away today. He is best known for his work during different periods with the Count Basie Orchestra as both a member and musical director. R.I.P. Frank Foster - September 23, 1928 - July 26, 2011

Great saxophonist with full orchestra, I had an opportunity of seeing live Foster a few years ago here in Uruguay with Elvin Jones. It's a shame not to be in use and see all that big move jazziatica.

Thanks, aparxa. Overall the band has managed to retain the characteristics of the great Basie band with Foster, Wess, Royal, Joe Newman etc., even if it is less of a roaring tiger than the old one. I am glad you posted these vids.
