  • extraordinary, legendary!

  • Wow!! Frank Foster is a monster!! Never ceases to amaze me...you will be missed sir my hats off to you.

  • RIP Frank Foster. One of the true greats - whether that be saxophonist, composer or arranger. And a thoroughly decent man. God's speed, Frank - and thanks for all the entertainment. It'll live on.

  • The man was a monster. I was privileged to have studied with him for four years in graduate school.

  • Rest in Peace, Mr. Foster... I'm really sad to hear he's gone now, since I just really found out more about him and his music in the past year after a research project for my major classes. Such an awesome player, composer, and leader, and such a huge influence on a lot of people. He will be greatly missed.

  • R.I.P. Frank.

  • Love this video! RIP, Frank Foster. Got to see the Count Basie Band a few times and always superb.

  • I AM SO SAD!!!! I haven't felt this sad about a music giant passing since Oscar Peterson. RIP FRANK FOSTER - A TRUE MASTER MUSICIAN!

  • Just learned that one of my oldest friends in Jazz, Saxophonist and arranger-composer Frank Foster passed away today. He is best known for his work during different periods with the Count Basie Orchestra as both a member and musical director. R.I.P. Frank Foster - September 23, 1928 - July 26, 2011

  • RIP,Mr.Foster. Thanks for all the music.

  • RIP, Frank.

  • Lovely solo of Frank!!

  • As tight a band as you will ever hear! That was why this band was Frank Sinatra's favorite band to sing with! Frank Foster does a great job of getting dynamic control out of this group! Super! Just love listening to them! Love that April in Paris!

  • Great saxophonist with full orchestra, I had an opportunity of seeing live Foster a few years ago here in Uruguay with Elvin Jones. It's a shame not to be in use and see all that big move jazziatica.

  • i can see the smoke coming out of Frank's horn !!

  • Fantastic tenor sax players. The second guy borrowed a few phrase I've heard before though.

  • Though? That just makes it better.

  • I had the pleasure of seeing Frank Foster in person while I was in undergraduate school(Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio, where Mr. Foster also attended), and I really enjoyed the clinic he did!!

  • Wow, I've never seen this. I was subbing on 2nd tenor then, now I'm playing the Lead Alto chair. This is something.

  • It's My Dad!!!

  • Ask your dad if he's looking for( another) or extra tenor player for his orchestra. If he says yes please lem me know as Im ready now!

  • Espectacular!!! gran músico Frank Foster, y gracias por mantener viva la llama, que nunca se apague la figura enorme COUNT BASIE!!!!!

  • Wow, how did you come by this????? Nice to see this...I've never run across it before:)

  • Great

  • Thanks, aparxa. Overall the band has managed to retain the characteristics of the great Basie band with Foster, Wess, Royal, Joe Newman etc., even if it is less of a roaring tiger than the old one. I am glad you posted these vids.

  • Shit man....Today's Basie band still roars... Ever heard them live?

  • Great sound and good video too!
