This bird is normal and hormonal. People should do their research on parrot behaviors and breeding. The bird is frustrated and not something to laugh at, really.
The head banging is a courtship thing, my eclectus does it too. He loves you! The over preening could be through the previous bad diet or boredem, I hope it improves soon. You can get cones to stop them doing this xx
That "head banging" behavior is characteristic of your bird wanting to regurgitate & offer food to you as he would for a mate, it is also a sign of "love".
As for the over preening or plucking comment from Tanglewood: please do not be so quick to judge why a bird's feather condition looks the way that it does. Often times, plucking is caused by a very serious brain disorder that no amount of treatment, love or drugs can cure. Tammi

not funny, your bird is over preening, look at the feather condition.stop upsetting the poor thing and search the eclectus web sites to see how to treat the bird better than teasing him.
Sorry you are so upset but Rhett was very silly. We just had him temporarily he was kept in a very small cage by a very weird guy for 13 years and fed only pellets that is why he looked like that. I think I know about eclectus since we have about 75 parrots and some look like that regardless of what they are fed!
At first I thought he was really biting him and was waiting for his hand to go red then bleed. Until I read the video discription, I was relieved. A real cute and smart eclectus you got there.
awww my cockatiel boy loves beak banging me feet and hands :)

My Timneh and my Jardine's both do things like this. It's just play, all in good fun.

My Quaker does this too, and makes a soft hissing sound every time he makes contact with the skin?
Strange. I wonder if it's a good thing :S

to me it seems a little "risky" teaching a parrot to "bite" all tho i dont think that was a bite.

Everytime you make that "ow" sound you're training him to bite you back, unless you enjoy that kind of play
